text-link-ads.com referrers I mean. They give you 25$ for each publisher/advertiser you refer.

text-link-ads is a must, Adsense also works very well I have found in the past. Hosting affiliate programs is only any good if you have a web hosting type directory or you put the hosting providers programs in the web hosting category of your directory I would think.

Is it just a general directory, or does it cover a specific niche?

If the directory receives a lot of se traffic about the listings i guess adsense it would do fine. But if your site gets mostly webmaster traffic, adsense isn't a good option.

I suppose the reall question , is what do web masters wanna buy online :)

I wouldn't have thought that adsense would work, cos they would simply be looking at adverts offering what they do themselves

I think I'll try the various yahoo affililiate links an adsense referals

It also depends on how many people go to your site to just submit their website. If they go there just for that then that will lower your CTR meaning less earnings overall.

Text-Link-Ads uses an automated approval system. Once you are in them they will check your site once you have the ads on it.

I have never had a site declined by them yet. Do you have any PR for your site and an alright alexa ranking. I think they look at a sites PR plus alexa ranking also. I think your site has to have a minimum PR3 to get approved.

Text-Link-Ads seems a much better option than adsense for a directory , however if you also plan to sell sponsored links on the directory seperately , i belive than might lower down their price.
    Also Text-Link-Ads takes a 50% cut..which i think is really high.

is it the first time you submit this site? If you had submitted before the site get PR 4, then you get an automated declining msg. Try without www.

If you want to refer clients to Text Link Ads, there is no special approval process required. You just sign up and then get and place the links.

Text link ads doesn't accept just any site. All sites have to meet the approval criteria before getting accepted into their network.
