The Backlink Devaluation Puzzle

I wasn't hit as hard as some by panda but did take a knock for some of the biggest keywords in my niche. Which are super competitive. I am still on the first page for some of the modestly trafficked keywords.

I think that blog rolls, even the ones that match your niche have been devalued. They used to be powerful for climbing up the ranks for me. Mind you, they took a while to have an impact, about 2 to 3 months before all link juice was passed on. Since the last quarter of 2011 I haven't built any blog roll back links, anyone currently doing this with success?

Going for high pr blog comments and blog comments in general have been bitten by panda as well. There is a lot of comment spam and G doesn't like it.

We all know that ezinearticles and other article directories keep getting hit every time you turn around. This time they really lost some value.

Matt Cutt's has said in the past that the problem isn't articles themselves, provided they're well written, and unique. Where those articles are placed is the key. On authority sites related to your niche ultimately is where you want them. Now it seems they are really looking at the length of the post according to some of the Matt Cutt's youtube vids I have seen. I am not sure that those 250 word blog posts will carry as much weight as they used to.

Nothing is ever cut and dried. I have been told by others that they rank well using senuke, xrumer and scrapebox link wheels on competitive keywords as long as you don't build too fast and keep 'em steady, even though these back links for the most part are considered spammy.

I have recently been experimenting with Senuke x and have only seen limited results. I can't say that I am using it as wisely as others either.

What are your thoughts? How have you changed your strategy post panda, if at all? If you have are your results improving?

Wow! Nobody could even bother to comment on this. I remember when this forum was responsive. I have helped people on this forum in the past and sank cash into services here. I guess there is no use in reaching out to this community anymore as this isn't the first time others couldn't be bothered to jump in a thread I started. It wasn't like this a few years back! Why waste my time and effort here I suppose...
