But how do you get it?

-The first place you should get your website listed is in some of the hundreds of search engines on the internet and the best approach to search engine placement is to have separate pages tuned for each major search engine.

-Start a mailing list (newsletter) and send them updates to keep them coming back, this is a must for anyone with an online website.

-Use a signature file in your email. Not too long, but enough to give them some information on your site. Change them frequently so that people don't tune them out.

-Exchange links with like sites and put your link on every site with a free-for-all links page. This also helps
improve your position with search engines. By increasing the number of links to your web site you can dramatically improve your search engine result positioning.

-Joining a banner exchange network is free advertising for your site. Try searching on a search engine to find some exchanges related to your site topic.

-Give something away, or put in links to free stuff. Everyone loves a freebie!
-If you receive an award, a lot of publicity and traffic can be generated within some of these award sites.

-Without spamming, send them a sample article or something to get readers interested enough to come visit your site.

Just be careful of dup content... If you have 3 different pages with the same content each tweeked for different search engines... You are going to have problems... both with confusing your users, maintenance... and confusing the search engines.

Good tips. Also might be a good idea to put it in your signature of forums that you post on if its allowed.

Another very viable form of advertising that most entrepreneurs have not considered is offline marketing.

Building a network outside of the World Wide Web is also crucial to gaining more traffic.

Looks like 2001 web traffic tips to me. Submission to hundred of search engines is basically useless today, links exchange have proven to be less rewarding than one-way links, people won't read mailing lists anymore unless for niche websites and markets, and banner exchange networks have been replaced by Adwords and the like.

 

Directories Submission and Link Exchange they are good source for
backlinks and traffic, anyway that was a good article thanks for sharing.

 

david that was very amateur. shows how much of a noob you are. more then me and my name is bloggernoob. you're not allowed to include your sig so you type in your addy. i don't think anyone will go to your blogspot site using this type of marketing. fyi you should first get your own domain name and some cheap web hosting.
