Gauharjk, I do want to take you on the merits, and evaluate your posts accordingly. I also want to give you the benefit of the doubt. Let's not all beat around the bush. The reason people post articles on the Liberty is to try and create a wedge in the US-Israel relationship or just to try and make Israel look bad. This thread is not current news. In a sad self-defeating way, people in their desire to slam Israel will apparently go to any site which supports that end. The irony to me is that this week one could have posted a legitimate article on the Liberty incident. One of the attorneys who investigated the incident died this week. I'm willing to look at anything, regardless of the source, so long as the material itself can be properly sourced. There appears to be plenty of facts and opinions supporting both sides: "tragic accident" or "premeditated attack, knowing it was a U.S. vessel," with both sides holding fast to their views, as well as a host of spinoff conspiracy theories - one, for example, postulating that Johnson and Israel colluded to sink the Liberty and blame it on Egypt. No one apparently disputes the attack was deliberate. The controversy is over whether Israeli forces thought the ship was American or Egyptian, and that controversy appears ongoing. I personally don't think we'll ever know. I do raise the question, however, Gauharjk, with Stox; why do you seem to go to white supremacist/neo-nazi sites for some of your material? It's a proper question, and I think it merits a reply.
I didn't know it was a white supremacist site. I found pictures of USS Liberty, with Israeli helicopters, jets and torpedo boats visible. I had never seen these pics before, so I wanted to share'em. In all the haste, I did not check what sort of site it was, or what other content it hosted. I am a brownie myself, so I wouldn't go to a white supremacist site. They'd hate me as much as anyone else.
Gauharjk, I ask this because you also went to the IHR, previously referenced. I ask in sincerity - what leads you to these sites? Secondly, in all honesty, many neo-nazi and white supremacists have discarded the "race thing" and reached out to at least some of what you would call "brownies," so long as they join in the "struggle" against World Jewry. They see radical Islam as a "partner" in the "war against world Jewry." I say this because it seems the race thing is secondary to many of them, to a radical effort to rid the world of Jews. In this, they are no different than Hitler, who declared Aryans to be the master race, yet went to bed with the Japanese. (many sources for this - do a google if doubted).
Personally I can accept that. When searching for material myself I find it more often than not that I land on a source I might not have wanted to.
Interesting picture despite where you found it. You can look at some pictures and just wish you could hear the story behind it firsthand... And yea, I have to agree with Grim on this one. Don't come down too hard on him. I land on weird sites all the time when I'm out looking for information, sometimes I stay and read and sometimes I don't. Stumbling upon information/opinions that you don't agree with is part of the learning process sometimes and it helps you fortify what you believe....
very interesting topic Gauharjk but very bad source, I do not think you have bad intentions though, I think you just looked at this topic only not the rest, I think this incident, should be looked deeply, separately, and with relation to other similar incidents, the survivors, are the best witnesses to this incident but they are somehow silenced, they are angry and they have been angry since 40 years: whether its been an accident, which I personaly believe it was not, or it was hit on purpose, I think these people deserve to be heard and people anywhere deserve to know the truth, Israel won't hesitate to do such things to provoke wars, in 50's Israel bombed American and British targets in Egypt, so that it would look like Egypt did it, in what later been known Lavon Affair, at the beginning, Israel denied, and of course, they described it as "antisemitism" but later they admitted it when they knew that they can no longer hide it.
I'm not coming down on Gauharjk for this instance alone; I am asking why has he posted something from these kinds of sites on two occasions, and I think it's a pretty simple question - here, and in at least one other instance, he has posted from, and argued a point, from a neo-nazi website. Why? I find that troubling. I have had many profitable exchanges with Gauharjk, and I hope to continue that. To that end, I think we need transparency here. I do think that whatever happened in the Liberty attack, based on what I have now read, there was a whitewash and improper investigation, and it merits full transparency and hearing. For that, I am glad for the discussion.
