As most of you know, September is a horrible month for most websites world wide. Nearly 60% of all online visitors (college students, kids, etc.) start school on this oh-so blessed month and the websites take a mighty blow to the shindig. This weekend my site earned 24k impressions, 2k visits, and 13$ a day but ever since Monday rolled around.. it fell to 8$... and today it's ended with barely even 5$. I perhaps thought that google wasn't tracking my front page ad correctly (only 703 impressions with 2k visits?) but I notice a lot of my peers having the same all-time low with their accounts. Currently I'm the process of SEOing my website's SERPs, and it has also made a significant affect on my targeted ads and CTR. It's been great but this horrible stroke of luck is a bit much, you think? Anybody else having this kind of 'luck'?
To me, it started the way you mentioned. So, I advertised on some sites to cover the decrease of traffic.
This month, I'm getting only a third of the traffic I got last month, but my CTR has tripled and my eCPM is four times as much so I'm actually making more per week in September than I did in August. Changes I made to increase my CTR: Ugly layouts, and using the adsense injection plugin for wordpress.
I would have thought September would be the start of something good in terms of traffic after the summer slumber when most people are on holiday enjoying themselves away from the computer. Anyway, if your site is revcolved around kids, I guess you got to wait till the christmas holiday.
According to AW Stats and Google Analytics my stats are still above 1500 a day but now I'm making less money then I was when I only had 700 visits. Sunday was 13, Monday was 8, Tuesday was 5, and today now shows up as 3? Is something totally wrong with that or is Google not tracking my ads correctly?
yup adsense has been kinda low this month. from $40-50 to $33-37/day. it'll come back next month *hopefully*. This has been the 2nd worst month for me. (April was the worst lol)
It does look like publishers are not spending there budget this month. Looking at last years stats it does look like bids are cheaper for adwords ads in my niches.
Wouldn't it all depend on what niche you are in? I was under the impression that internet use would go up as college kids go back to school. But kids in school (not college) internet use would go down.
I'm finding clicks are increasing but revenue is decreasing. Surely the more people who use adsense means there's less money to go around, no?
