There is no point killing Yahoo anymore, because Yahoo has said it is not actively investing in search technology anymore. It is only up to Google vs Bing now. The Sperse site seems slow to load in my computer. But it does look promising. On the plus side, it looks minimalist and very neatly designed, with trending topics and videos placed strategically, It depends on how much money you can burn for spreading the word out so more people can use it and you can always fix any problems that arise as feedback comes in.

Yeah, links not working is very annoying...
However, don't put it down! Sperse looks great at the moment (as a site/business), with some tweaks and fixes, it'd be great and have lots more potential. Potential doesn't mean anything, but it looks like it's already been planned, with Email, and other features...

I think it works by scraping for META tags, and it indexes using those. Aswell as that, it scrapes other Search Engines for results (alot like most SE's do).

It does not actually scrape any meta tags from any sites, it just uses the search APIs from other engines to create results. This is not crawler or database.

Not a real search engine tbh, just leeches off of other search engines.

Very, very, well said man. Yahoo's engine is "dead and gone" but I still like their e-mail and news.

Even the mail has been killed by gmail I think. The News and Finance that still pretty strong for Yahoo.

Finance is one segment where Yahoo still rules... though google did manage to improve a lot in the past year or so. I have been using finance.Yahoo for my business purpose a lot and their real time intraday chart service in spite of being free, is surely too good! :)
