    hiya ..
This is probably gonna sound like a really stupid question, after all i didnt even know alexa was a search engine .. i just had to ask where to post the question  lol
I read another thread about the fire fox plugin that shows the page and alexa rank, so me being the nosy bugga i am, i went and installed it. I clicked on it and filled in the information for my site a couple of weeks ago, and got a number a few days ago.
I know from reading yet another thread in here that the alexa rank is opposite to the google rank, in the fact that the lower the number the better.
When i first got my rank, it was 1.8 million eeeeekkkk .. but in the past few days its dropped to 748,690 .. i know its still not great .. man its not even good lol .. but i know it is heading in the right direction .. my question tho is what did i do, or what happened to make it get better ? whatever it is i want to keep doing it .. or do it again to make it even better .. or does the alexa rank not matter ? .. my google one still hasnt changed .. thats still a great big fat ZERO !! lolololol

Did you install the Alexa toolbar yourself? That is how Alexa gets its data-- it only knows about website visits from people that have installed their toolbar. If you want to put your site up into the 100k-200k range all you have to do is install the toolbar on your PC and then keep visiting your site.

That oughta tell you that anything above 100,000 isn't that accurate of a ranking. You might actually be getting more traffic or it could be just the normal fluctuations of Alexa. Also note that since toolbars like Alexa are more often installed by webmasters, the Alexa ranking is highly biased towards webmaster-related sites.

yeah simple linking can boost your page rank and alexa rank under 200,000 in like 1-2 weeks, its not too hard to do. I think alexa reads visits from ip's that don't have the tool bar as well though.

no i havnt installed the alexa toolbar, its a plugin on firefox that displays the google page rank and the alexa rank.

my site isnt anything to do with webmasters or anything like that .. its an online adult store .. i only went live a couple of months ago, and to be honest i am technically docile and most of the stats page means nothing to me, i can see on there that my traffic is going up each month tho .. but its still nothing to write home about lol

i clicked on the incoming links bit of the plugin and it says i have no incoming links .. have also got none on google which is why i am still on zero with them lolol

so basically should i just ignore it ? and concentrate on getting backlinks still ? .. oooo i have another question, but dont know whether to ask on here or if i should be on another board .. according to my stats, the majority of my visitors come from the USA, which is a bit of a bummer cos i only deliver to the UK (and europe as of next week) .. how do i get more peeps from the UK looking and less from USA ? or is that an impossible question ? lolol
