Hi. I am using the older version of WordPress. I have seen online that WordPress 3 is now available. Has anyone tried using it? How good is it? Thank you.
You should always upgrade to the newest version of Wordpress. It's opensource code so the older versions are vulnerable to hackers. As for 3.0 it has caused some problems with a few plugins, but those that had a conflict with 3.0 most have been upgraded.
I have upgraded my blog and it worked well, wordpress 3.0 is much faster. I recommend to backup all your database and wp-content folder before you do upgrade, considering lots of people have problems with upgrading. However i know some people wait for the next version.
I was able to update to 3.0 without any problems. There is alot of new features in wordpress 3.0 like better menu management and your are able to run multiple blogs
I upgraded three blogs to Wordpress 3 without any issue or plug-in incompatibilities, I am using 24 plug-ins that worked fine. I have heard some people run into trouble, RAM issues or even feed issues, but overall issue reports are rare. Some of the best features of Wordpress 3 aren't supported by older themes, like the custom menu creations which can exist in WP3 themes with hooks.
For those who have had hands-on experience with the new version, what are some of the best new features you like? Have you encountered any downsides to upgrading apart from the occasional malfunctioning plugin?
There might be some update in files or maybe something more in security kind of files. There is nothing special you are going to find...Such chances are less..
The admin panel being faster is worth the time to upgrade if you ask me. Also, the new theme isn't too bad either, the standard one that is.
