Remember my thread "My prweb press release got me 3 news interviews today"? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=40250 Today I woke up and checked my messages. It seems the story has made it all way to the west coast... I got a call from the 'San Francisco Chronicle' today and they are thinking about doing a story... The $30 that keeps on giving. lol
Wow.. that's an amazing amount of success! We saw nothing like that, but we're still very happy with how our release turned out.
Today was my first submission with PRweb, i am starting to like what i did, maybe my $30 are similar somehow
Wow thanks, ive always wanted to know how to submit a pr press release. Think it matters im in the UK as to how successful it is? Ill definitely keep this for future reference.
Press releases work pretty well. One that I put out got picked up by a bunch of related sites. I still get hits and still have a bunch of links from them. At the time I was just figuring out how to use them and I put out some pretty bad releases, They still worked. I keep a list of PR submission sites at http://www.topwebsitetips.com/PressReleases.aspxif anyone is interested.
What exactly are press releases and these types of articles? Can anyone direct me to a write-up on these? Thanks!
Yes, I'd like to know also. Are Press Releases different from articles? Do they have to be news stories? Could I write a press release about my site and what it offers? What is unacceptable content for a press release? It would be nice if some generous member could provide a breakdown of how the entire process works. From writing them to submitting them to what happens afterwards that generates all that traffic.
It's basically you writing a story about yourself and or your website that will hopefully become picked up by the press ( for example CNN, NBC, ABC, FOX and all the other smaller news outlets both in the real world and online) hence the name press release. But the real excitement comes from writing an informative Press Release that becomes picked up by leading and credible news outlets thus giving you free publicity not only yourself but also your website (Huge amounts of traffic). So remember the key to winning over the media / press is writing something that is exciting and informative! (Results may vary lol) www.prweb.com www.prwebdirect.com
Thanks Red. That's some pretty good info. As far as the content of your Press Release. I heard that it's best not to make it sound like an advertisement for your website, but more like a news story or something. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
You need to write them in the third person, and they should be in a particular format. Best case scenario is when a news organization picks up on it and it gets published, Massive exposure. Otherwise related sites often add them as news items to their site. This still gets you high quality back links and exposure. Articles normally are on a subject of interest and you get to add your signature, links to the bottom. Press Releases are about your site, product, services, and should be written in a fair unbiased way, Telling why this is news worthy. I have a few articles on my site on how to do this, most of the PR sites also show the best format and how to best present the information. Some of the sites are very tight on how it should be presented, others leave a lot of leeway. The tighter you follow the rules the better the chance that a news organization will pick up the press release and use it. Obviously the guy that started this thread did a very good job of writing his PR.
