There is a big misconception on social media sites and how it plays key roles for SEO. They don't understand why Google ranks the social sites links even though there are snippets of duplicate content. They are nescient on how Social Media ranks, gauges and measures period. They are nescient on how roles in algorithms through Google, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and other Social Media platforms measure Active User Time Engagement, its followers, fans and crowd and the levels that are stacked in this SEO 2015 V2. I'm going to break it down into segments of certain social media sites and how they're ranked within their own rules of the rank system. Then I can tell you how Google interprets the social media sites SMOS (Social Media Optimization Score) . I'm going to tell you this, Google, Facebook along with many other social media sites are starting to favor people who do things the hard way. Manual SEO, SMO and internet marketing. They are breaking their robot intelligence so deep to where the robots are being developed similar to how a human has a conscience. These factors make it difficult to manipulate for the majority of people. Unless you have thousands and thousands of dollars, can create any type of custom software. Have the worlds fastest computers and private servers. You have over 10,000 Facebook likes, you're wondering why only 120 people saw your facebook post update. The very first important factor is referer. Who referred your visitor to your Facebook page? Facebook gauges the source first. How many UUs (Unique Users) commented about the mentioned page? How many UUs liked the post [not your page] of where your source mentioned you? How many click through views the pages content received before your like, and after the user left your page. Facebook takes into all of the principles pretty similar to Google's. As in CTR, Time on Profile, Picture StreamFlow (PSF). If the user just likes your page and that's all, you aren't getting much social media impact points. 1/10 If the user likes the source referers post (Website referral straight to your page equals the same as user liking or commenting on source referers post), your page, your pages content, your pages picture, shares your page and/or pages content or picture. You get a pre-social media impact score 10/10 Our Social Media Importance Score Max points is 100/100 Social Media Impact Score - 10/10 = 1 Social Media Importance Point I'd say the average Social Media Impact score would be around 4/10 . Not everyone gives you all the love, and everyones follower or fan base has different Social Media Importance scores. Each person has a different Importance score and each person that engages in your content has influence over your score. Your score is negatively affected by the lack of engagement by a user. The biggest way to hurdle this that has proven to work is offer free cash prizes, that aren't costly but people love. Offer for first thousand likes, than offer for the 500th commenter, etc. Suppose you have 10,000 likes or followers. 5,000 of them commented on your post. Out of those 5,000 comments your page increases in popularity. These 5,000 people each have different friends, engagement activities, Likes and interests. If the majority of them have engaged in the same type of content relevance and user engagement, the users they've brought from their following now see your page. 20,0000 new likes appear on your page, 100,000 people saw your post. This would be a result of high quality followers, and great engagement incentives. The only way you'd even think about accomplishing such hypothetical numbers would be "Post engagement incentives". your Facebook page would carry a very strong social importance as a result. Now that you have 30,000 likes on your page off 1 post that went insane viral. You can experiment with other posts. Your posting won't get something like that again just because your topic of interest was. Your Social Media Importance score on Facebook is very similar to a gamble when first trying to establish consistent ads appearing in every single fan's news feed. Once you've had it to where 15% of your fans engage 10 times in 1 quarter. You'll start getting consistent news feed appearances for a little over 70% of your fans. You'll never be able to get all 100%, simply because Facebook measures your fans friends engagement with one another and puts priority over fan pages. They measure that aspect with your Active User Uptime on Facebook. Not everyone that likes your page, will ever like the content you post. With this problem, it is why fresh off from liking your page, you post, new fan sees it but doesn't hit the like button or comment on it. After that first miss, 80% of your posts will never show up to that users news feed. The only way to overcome such obstacle would be to where that user engages his Facebook Activity Time with your Facebook page. The only way you'll accomplish this is with interactive content. Game, Long survey for incentive, Video, Picture gallery rating, TV show, Pop Quiz, you'd offer them something in return for their participation. But more so it would be the other way around since most people are engage with user to user and not user to fan page. One trick you can do is actually create a profile as a really hot chick or an underground Celebrity. claiming you actually are a celebrity or actor, even though your not. The power of photoshop can deceive folks making them think you are a celebrity, making you a little more interesting, thus, creating a fan base. Just by you engaging with other people will give the pages you own priority over other smaller steps Facebook takes to measure and gauge the potential likelihood of a page. The page is a part of you, Facebook shows parts of you to your friends, even if you're not aware of it. You can promote your Facebook page, low-key as your fake profile. By sharing and liking your own page. If you want to take it up a notch, having the money part is important. You can buy a C-Class private proxy, footprint/cookie eraser and log into a whole new account for your fan page or celebrity. Facebook, Google knows who you are at all times, doing this will mask this, giving you an extra quality Engaged Fan (Yourself). Underground celebrities work the best, so do pornstars. If you find a good, not too popular actor or actress, personalize the profile as if it were really you. People naturally would be curious to know more about your life. You'll average about 100-200 friend requests per week. This is after you've put your information and a popular high school, you'll be adding 50-100 random people that went to your high school you've claimed to over went to. Facebook will limit you after 10 people say they don't know you outside of Facebook if these people click on "Not Now". You'll be limited to 50 people to add and flagged for possible spam account. Try to avoid this with a personalized message to the person. You can automate this of course. Googles Social Media Algorithm Google is well aware of social media activities. Google has a unique social media ranking algorithm, completely different from its website algorithm. They base the importance of every post off the users followers, the users activities, the users links and content. They emphasize strictly on the users engagement as the main factor in gaging any particular user before it grades the importance. Some programmers say they can automate all these things Google reads. These programmers are clueless to the fact, Google records that users IP address. It'll find the most active IP address that specific account has logged in on and mark the account for the address with the most logins. People think the social media sites mask your IP from Google, think again! Google crawls the persons followers by repeating the same exact steps as mentioned. One thing I've seen a lot of DPers talking about is; Why does Google rank social bookmarking website when the link ties on a snippet of duplicate content, leaving a link. They think it is solely cause you are linking to the site, it is fine to use their content for the benefit of SE advances. This is not true at all. The content isn't gauged in the ranking factors whatsoever. The importance of one's social media or bookmark account is measured by Google Social Algo in a unique way, completely different from the website Algo, Google engages for rankings of the Social Media account. As you notice when you see XYZ website ranked and then you see a social media backlink of XYZ website ranked 10 positions down or up. Than you look at that users follower based and engagement of that particular backlink. You then understand that because this user has his past history, engagement, and follower base. Strictly from the fact that Google ranks this users content or shall we say "Post updates" over other links competing for the same niche/content topic/keyword. Cause the user has content saturation for the keyword, follower base and engagement base greater than the competitors follower base. You can look at Youtube and ruminate on the fact of Social Media Influence. It's like Youtube user has 5,000 Subscribers that subscribed from his Fitness videos. Another Youtube User Joe Blow, has 0 Subscribers releases a video for fitness. They release the video at the same time. As soon as Youtube User releases his, he gets almost instantly, 1,000 Views, 100 likes and 50 comments. Assuming he targeted a popular workout method, his Youtube SERP's instantly skyrocket passed everyone with less user-engage based accounts, shooting his Youtube SE ranks to the top for his keyword. As Joe Blow is stuck getting the bottom feeders of Youtube viewers, the ones that seen so many workout videos, they're simply tired of watching. Thus giving Joe Blow crap traffic and Youtube User with fresh, consistent traffic with potential of inlining a fitness product and adding his website hyperlink in the description. Because Youtube User had a subscriber based where he was instantly able to grab viewers, likes, comments. Boosting the Video SERPs and eventually SE SERPs. He was able to grab 2,000 more subscribers, as his high quality video content was king. Not only is his keyword on Youtube at the top of the pile, his alternate and long-tail keywords from his money site climbed to the top of Google, just off a video. That's exactly how social media, social bookmarking work as well. In such a way where because of the engagement of your fan base, the Social Impact Score, Social Influence Rank has grown to higher levels. Social Media sites like Facebook are seen like this. Each Active user is seen as an asset. The Active users Engagement time is seen as the golden butter on the crisp bread. Facebook and sites break it down to numbers. How much is any given users Active Engagement Time worth per minute. This same formula created by these social media companies, are seen just like that. Google evolved every single popular social media sites asset rules, into one mega algorithm to where it controls the fate of many social media websites. And it has worked with Powerhouse Social Media sites such as Facebook & Twitter. It has worked so into it, Google now has come up with a whole new algorithm for ranking your very own website. As Social Media Influence/importance is one of the main triggers for ranking your website. I hope you DPers have been working overtime such as I have. Building your fan base, followers, subscribers to new heights. This is more of a manual ordeal, it still can be semi-automated. A lot of building an audience based is complimenting, following, reading, liking other peoples content and posting gemstones of your own. As soon as you get enough attention by doing that, you blast off with a free incentive or giveaway. Sure it'll cost you $10 or $20, but it'll be worth every penny invested. When doing something so simple, measures a large part of your overall quality ranking score. Your v2 of link juice is in the Social Media world now. So breaking it down. Google doesn't rank it on unique, quality content but ranks it based off of; Rule Set 1 1)Content Topic 2)Follower Base 3)IP Address Of Persons Followers 4)User Engagement / User Engagement Active Time 5)Persons Followers User Base 6) Total History Of Engagement 7)Content Topic Saturation Level sub-rank factors are - posting impressions, posting clicks, posting CTR, Posting Quality. This is called the Engagement Prominence Indicators. I think age of vanity URL has to make a small difference. Next ranking factors for off-page social media rankings or the website being mentioned on the Social media sites, would be all of the above Plus++ Rule Set 2 1)Impressions (users that see the sites URL) 2)Clicks On The Links (referer social media site) 3)Time On Site from user 4)Users Social Media Importance Score 5)Users followers that click on link (Their Steps 1-4) 6) Users CTR 7)Users Page view stream 8) Users Exit Route (+ for exit from clicking on checkout, affiliate link, other site) These rules are back and forth, they work as synergy. To sum it up we can say the importance of rule set 1 is the given content connecting to a website, to where users are so intrigued, interested and engaged into the off-websites content (Or so it thinks it's from the site since you are linking it for the sites credit) bringing the social value of your account to a higher priority within FB or the Social Media sites interface, to rank your account to be shown to more potential website visitors who engage. That gives you your website quality score off those on social media rules. Rule set 2 gives Google feedback of the quality content that was presented upon the Social Media's website on which the Social Media visitor stayed on the page, visited more links, ordered something. Boosting the prominence, influence your social medias profile page will build into. (this is by far most important with FB). All of the Social networks have similar ranking scores. Facebook uses the most advance Social Media algorithm out of all the social networking sites. Social Media Importance score - is all of your money sites/or user profiles social media accounts active and engaged audience, content backlinks, SE score, Asset Visitors and your followers Social Media Impact score. Asset Visitors - The way a visitor from a social media site interacts with your money site. Staying for more than a minute, clicking to another page, browsing and scrolling through content, clicking on external links or purchasing something from the website. Social Media Impact Score - Engagement activity of a any given user + Social Media Importance score. Im done, I hope you get the point. John, Thanks for the detailed information. I'm betting a lot of people learned something (or a lot) from your information and I'm GUESSING they haven't thanked you for it 'cause of your 'frank' writing style which may come across to people as if we're all are bunch of dumbasses). That might be accurate, but nobody wants to admit that (so no responses) - that's my theory fwiw. Anyway - Thx
