The only thing with that is then he would have to pull 15k out of his pocket and give it away. Not only that but whoever wins the site et all would be able to easily tell if the whole thing was made up.

But if this was fake, I'm sure the contest "winner" is planned already.

There is so much demand for crappy craft books. he makes even more moeny by not selling -just colecting address. Bfft SElling?? Waaay overrated. Who needs to sell when you can jsut colect addressesand make funny slash pages. **Sarcasm**

IamNed, you would have to be a complete moron to think their is no demand for craft related information.

You have over 1500 posts and you still don't have a clue about how to assess the profitability of a market?

Do you think all the PPC advertisers are spending money on craft related traffic for fun?

What about all those craft related books on Amazon?

People involved in crafts are fanatic about it, and people who are passionate about something spend money.

I'm curious as to why people who are so obviously against what this guy is doing are investing so much of their time trying to put him down. In a way I'm kind of jealous that you people have so much free time to invest in something that doesn't bring in any profit.

It's like sitting at home, holding the remote control, and having a TV show come on that you hate, but rather then change the channel you bitch and cry about how much you hate this show as you sit and watch the entire thing.

PS. There's a big difference between opt in email and spam. I've you're not making any attempts to capture you visitors email you're losing out on tons of profits.

I see the traffic some DP'ers are getting and I can't for the life me understand why you guy's haven't embraced email marketing. Regardless of what you may have been told you can be a welcome presence in a persons inbox and still make money. This not only applies to marketing your own product, but affiliate marketing and PPC as well.

If Dan has an email database now of +/- 200,000, and his craft item price point is $19, then he needs roughly 750 sales....(unless Ive goofed my math here) to hit 15k

So, thats less than a 1% conversion rate, correct?

This is going to happen..thats totally doable..

    Interesting to watch..;)

I think the real gold that Dan has already shared with all who have paid attention here, is how to build a HUGE targeted list in under 30 days, for just about FREE..

That my friends, is good info.

i saw some of his posts on yahoo groups -- they are very lowkey. just a comment or two and a simple url in the sig. And like he says probably half of those 7-10k members get to see his signature in an email from yahoo at the end of the day.

    this IS good info.

Bitching is good sport. People involved in bitching are fanatic about it, and people who are passionate about something spend money. Maybe you should start an opt-in newsletter to sell stuff to all these enthusiastic whiners and naysayers.

One oversight from a conventional site that is normally expected is a footer, at least outlining the terms & conditions, privacy policy, copyright, etc.

I imagine this was overlooked just by the pace of the contest, but they seem like pretty significant omissions.

    Cheers,

    Predetermined 'winner' already chosen.

Also, by saying it was a success, people will flock to buy the ebook. 15,000 would be a drop in the bucke compared to what he would make on the ebook in total, especially given the amount of publicity this has stirred amongst the dreamers who think making a living on the web can be achieve by reading 30 pages. hehe

just my .02. what do you think?
