Anyone have any great Thanksgiving stories? How did everyone's Thanksgivings go? I was leaving the bank Wednesday and I heard one of the guys that work for the bank say "You know in some parts of the world it's already Thanksgiving. Like in Europe they're already celebrating it because of the time difference." I just wanted to punch him in the mouth. Even though I've been dating my gf for a while now this was the first time she's met some of my family members. That's always entertaining. My family loves to drink so there were definitely some very awkard momements.
Yeah my one uncle rubbed his chest on a guys bald head, I think this was the strangest moment of the night. The shots were going down very well, so were the mixers so I could have missed many others Traditional thanks giving for part #2 of the night consisted of sitting in a home bar, fully stocked and playing 7/14/21, choosing the nastiest shots possible trying to get the others to puke.
My whole family gets wasted and out of control.....and ANNOYING! I ended up just playing Madden football w/ my cousin and then we went bowling.
God...Thanksgiving is just an excuse for you Americans to get fatter and have a day off work to get drunk. I wish we celebrated it here!! ;p
We bought a turducken this year. It was funny, cuz we were 4 people and it said there were enough servings for 44 people on the thing. We had assumed it was partially cooked when it arrived, but mom realized that it was not and put it in the oven at noon and we didn't eat until like 8pm or something. It was pretty good, though (if you haven't had one, I'd defeinitely recommend it!) - but everything is a little spicy, so its a little ring of fire later on. Sides were pretty good too. I'm not a fan of turkey, but when there is duck in the middle, the turkey stays juicy so it was better than normal this year too. I'd probably get one again next year, now that we know it takes for-e-ver to cook it.
My aunt ran out to greet me. I'm 6'6 so I bent down to give her a hug. Well she had been drinking, is very busty, and was wearing one of those lingerie shirts. She jumps up to give me a chest bump at the exact moment I'm bending over to give her a hug. The result was a face full of aunt boob. Her boob slapped me in the face. I wasn't real hungry after that.
Nope. I'm a bootstrapper and my wife is an immigrant, so we both have a good appreciation for America and the sacrifices people made to make it possible for us to have what we have today. Plus, my family is annoying, her family is bound by their religion to kill the both of us, and we have no kids. And of course, quality time alone together is hellishly difficult to get any time of the year. It was nice.
My 9 month old came down with roseola, and my niece hasn't had that one yet and had already been exposed to him, so my oldest sister couldn't come to Thanksgiving because she's very early in her pregnancy, and roseola has a slight chance of causing miscarriage. That left us scrambling a little, since everyone brings a part of the dinner to make it easier on my mom (her kitchen is small), and my oldest sister was bringing the drinks! All in all, though, it was a good day with a lot to be thankful for. I've had more family members in the hospital this year than I've probably had to deal with in my entire life (3 out of 4 grandparents, myself (urgent C-section), my son when he was 3 months old, and my brother-in-law just had open heart surgery, got out on Saturday), but everyone's healthy again or firmly on the road to recovery. Joked about making it a tradition to spoil somebody's holiday at the last minute.
