Everyone has heard many bad things about Godaddy, well here's just another thing to add to the list. About 20 domains were being transferred from Godaddy to name by the seller of the sites I'm purchasing and when godaddy finally pushed the domains (it's almost $10 per push...) they decided to change all the name servers. They didn't change the name servers to the name.com ones, they simply changed the numbers of the name servers of my private host. Lost me about $100 and who knows the devastating affects in the SERPs. Thanks godaddy, you've lost a long term customer. I'd never used anything other than godaddy, I just wanted them on name because it'd be a quicker transaction between me and the seller since they don't take a few days to transfer.
Right now, I'm going to use name.com. I've heard some good things about them (plus he put them on name for me). Why? You get a free push to any name.com account (not sure about outside accounts), it's only $2.00 from private whois as opposed to godaddys $5, and the site itself is just a lot safer to use because of all the bad press and issues people have had with godaddy in the past.
I wonder why you get angry with godaddy. I think the name.com is quicker than godaddy, but the additional and bonus features good for godaddy. Maybe you consider the private whois. Free for first year, right? I think, there is choice. I suggest you to differentiate your asset (re=domain). The bigger your asset, you will secure your asset more properly.
Godaddy does kinda suck. I just bought hosting from them 5 days ago... and all types of stuff happens with their .htaccess and vanilla 2 forum. In short it doesnt work!
