I have a very valuable domain name. I started to develop it within the past 2 weeks. The keyword returns over 40,000,000 million results. It receives over 200,000 "direct searches" per month for this keyword. I have recently been swapping spots in the 11-13 range for the past week. I just checked and I am currently at number 2 position after being at 10 earlier today. Hopefully we'll see a surge in traffic because the 10-13 position wasn't too good. I have been providing unique content and updating the site throughout the day. The content on the site is made for visitors and not search engines. Thank you thus far Google. Now if you can just index all the pages in my site I would be more than appreciative.
Ok. Here is an update. Its been 2 weeks and Google has found a nice place for me at the #3 spot. But #3 is not good for 2 reasons. 1. Its not the number 1 spot. 2. There is a "google local business result" map right above my #3. The term shouldn't even return local business results because its not what people are searching for. So, I am trying to determine what my next game plan should be.... Any ideas?
Credit should go to your domain name, not Google at all since a good domain sometimes get you on top of Google even without content at all
Well done - good to hear of your sucess. Building website for visitors with good content is definately the best way to get a good ranking - as you have found out. Shame about the google map appearing in the search results, I have the same problem - the is a maps and images result right above me. Just carry on doing more of the good stuff you are doing.
I always like to see more and more webmasters like you "creating content for visitors not search engines" - Hats Off
I think it maybe time for a Press Release to annouce the site, that may push me to #2 with some backlinks.
I've done link exchanges and did a 500 article directory submission. I haven't done any directory submission, which I've been hesitant to do because I think they hurt ratings and I don't want to get banned by the "boss."
congratz! i always wanted to have a good website to but i dont know how to update my content enough by self hoping to get it to soon!
you have done good. can you tell me what you have done beside article and directories ?my keyword is on 10 rank and some keyword on 2 page of google.i want them in top 5.what should i do to rank up?i am working for the last three month. waiting your reply thanks
If you post your domain name and keyword I can assist you. We are all learning together. I can understand if you want to keep it private. One thing I recommend is unique content that is updated regularly. Since I work full time at a regular job, I have found it hard to stay motivated to keep updating my sites in the past. When I updated them with my own content, google loved it. I worked at it on the daily basis. Life situations caused me not to have time to update the site, so I used articles from directories. Google banned me at times and killed my search engine placement. I decided not to pursue that site. That site is a very competitive search term and without very hard work, I won't be out the top ranker. No, not that site. Google hasn't even indexed that site yet. That is running a website builder script that google doesn't respect......Terrible investment. Tetris Download is my next project once I get my main project to #1. That is a premium domain name as well. -On another note: Within 1 minute of me updating my site, it is already indexed in google. Wow!
I always think its better to rank second or third than 1st. Most people will not buy from their first search result, and often read a few more before making a descision. If your the last click on a particular product you win!
