It is a first of its kind in the Thai politics to have a woman as PM and it is sincerely hoped that she would deliver the goods...

I find it interesting that a lot of people talk as if the U.S. is one of the most progressive countries in the world, yet there are numerous other regions of the world, including Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, which have had women leaders, and the U.S. still has yet to have a female president, and our congress also continues to be heavily male-dominated.

I personally think that our country would probably have better leadership if there were more of a 50-50 split in positions of power.

But the fact that new prime minister of Thailand is female does not guarantee that she will be progressive; is she not strongly tied to the old leader, who is in exile?

I just hope that this will be a new beginning for Thailand, it is time for unity after so many demonstrations and deaths. The Thais are an extremely friendly people and definitely deserve a better government and peace as well as prosperity.

As far as I can see it's rather popular practice in the world politics when historically men's skill is implemented to women nowadays. I think that it will be useful for Thai have woman's hand in governmental ruling as well.
