YouTube video, user disappear (BangkokPost.com) - The offensive slideshow video of His Majesty the King that triggered disappeared from YouTube on Thursday afternoon, and the anonymous user who posted it was banned. When trying to access the 440-second video on the King, a notice on YouTube said that, "This video has been removed by the user." Meanwhile, the video site said of the user who uploaded the video under an alias of "paddidda": "This account is closed." The video could still be found in some YouTube searches, but could not be played. In less than five days, the video was played more than 66,000 times, almost all of them after the sensational publicity created by Information and Communication Technology Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom and his order to ban YouTube inside Thailand. It attracted at least 953 comments, almost all of them attacking the video, and most of them rude. Presumably, full access to YouTube will be resumed, although most Thai users who wanted to see the video had seen it despite the occasionally effective "filtering" of the video site.
This topic appears, to me, to be incorrect. Thailand is 94.6% Buddhist -- including most of the national leadership. Only a few of the Southernmost provinces are predominantly Islamic and they are generally too violently unstable to enjoy Internet service anyway.
Will, it sounds like incorrect, but if one follows up in how the muslim junta leader and the muslim interior minister try hard to cement their position changes the picture. First, the junta leader has 2 registerred marriages, which is against the law. Aree, another muslim and from the junta leader installed interior minister had his first statement for the defence of the two illegal marriages of the junta leader. *Sonthi, the junta leader, tried 2 times to put Bangkok under emergency law again after the ban was lifted. * He tried numerous times to secure the position as vice PM to save him a powerful influence. * He gave a pay rise of 30% to those who were invovled in the coup just recently. *He tries to draw all the army behind him and has reshuffled and placed people in position which are loyal to him. * The violance in the south is spiralling due to the fact that the whole coup is understood by his brother as a jihad - which it likely is. *The news years bombing is not resolved even after a confession of a muslim man in the north, which is now somewhere burried, no media follow ups either, which points to the next * censorshiop in place. * 50% of the nation under martial law. * 100% of the nation population's are not allowed to hold political meetings. * There is no single day, without this junta creating confusion, damage and anger on a global scale, which makes turning the investors away step by step. the list could go on and on ... ... and not to forget to mention. Their jihad is not a limited issue to the south. The bombs in Bangkok were exactly the same as used in the south. Cyber jihadis from all over the world contributing to this course, most of them from malaysia.
I found this post at a poll at nationmultimedia.com and must say that there are still reasonable people in this country. Wish this guy had more support. DEMOCRATIC THAI CITIZEN 06/04/07 06:35, IP: 75.10.45.235 FOOD-FOR-THOUGHT: I perused your article titled: “Disrespect for Monarchy a Direct Attack on Heart of Nationâ€. Your proposals are: (1) The monarchy of Thailand should not be ridiculed nor questioned at anytime for any reason under any circumstances. The monarchy is to be fully revered, to the point that no one can query any action of the monarchy. (2) If Thailand is not a Buddhist State, then Thailand is reduced to a Pagan State. Thanong, this is EXACTLY the obtuse mentality that ensured the politics of Thailand remain a prank. This is EXACTLY why Thailand - in the span of MERELY 75 years (from 1932 to present) - is the ONLY so-called “democratic†country of modern day to possess the UNIQUE history of: (A) 17 Constitutions! (B) Unprecedented numbers of attempted or successful military take-over of the State! (C) Almost a continuous reign of the military over the State – with or without the guise of democracy! (D) Censorship of thought and press that question the government and the monarchy - which matches the government censorship level of communist Russia and China! (E) Worship of the monarchy to the status of Deity (God)! (F) Union of religion and State, with Buddhist clergy (monks) who are significantly ignorant of the Tripitak (the Buddhist scriptures)! (G) Enforcing Buddhist ideology on the conscience of the masses (whereby the Lord Buddha Himself forbade any of His teachings to be implemented as State laws)! (H) The most unstable and unpredictable State in the modern history of the world! (I) Never experiencing true democracy – even for a single day – though democracy was supposedly introduced to Thailand 75 years ago! I am Thai, like you. However, we differ in the following manner. You look at the above-mentioned political paradigms and say “This is the way we Thais are. This is the way we Thais have been. This is the way we Thais should continue to be.†I, on the other hand, look at the same above-mentioned political paradigms and say “We Thais, as a nation, have lost the only substance that separates us humans from the lower biological species – a brain that thinks.†You are right. The western democratic societies will NEVER understand us. How can they? For example, the USA promulgated its Constitution in 1786. For the past 221 years (repeat, 221 years!), the USA has had ONLY ONE Constitution. The country has NEVER suffered a military rule (the American Revolution and the American Civil War do not count – for obvious reasons). The country has UNMATCHED freedom of thought and press – even to fully query all branches of the government. The country has the BEST educational centers in the world. The country is a SUPERPOWER. The country was formed MANY centuries after Siam was founded. The country also has the most stable and predictable State. MY POINT IS THIS: The day the western democratic societies emulate our Thai politics, that VERY SAME DAY these democratic countries would utterly lose their democracy! Thanong, if you really want Thailand to achieve democracy, then learn from those who practice democracy. At the very least, remember this. It is better for you to remain silent and make people wonder if you are intelligent - than for you to write such an article and confirm that you are not.
