    IBM has developed software of "text to speech" (TTS). It is considered the most powerful one on the market.
    I don't remember the name. It is commercial software (maybe expensive), not free.

    Ideally what I want; users on my site could click on a link etc, then the page would be read out.

    I saw it somewhere buy can’t find the damn thing now!
