text messaging?

Are you a text messager? If so, how many hours a day do you spend sending out text messages and such? Are you a die hard text messager and do you enjoy messaging your friends over text messages?

I never use my phone to text, I'd rather talk to the person.

I find that people tend to text message ME a lot more than I'll text them. It can be useful, if you're in the middle of doing something where you can't easily talk on the phone. If you're fast, you can zip them a short text message immediately. I don't mind text messaging, but I'd much rather talk to a friend in person.

Texting takes too long, I rather just use verbal communication.

Granted, verbal communication is a lot better than frantically exchanging text messages. But they can be useful depending on the circumstances.

Funny thing, I recently tried a product that converted speech into type (of course this was on a computer, not a phone) but I promptly returned it.

Hopefully in five or ten years they will make your dream a reality Whimpering Warrior :)

text messaging can be useful if you want to have some time to think over the things you're going to say to the person you're talking to. or if you're in a place where you can't possibly make a call. :D

I think we're in danger of becoming isolated. I already talk to people less than before due to the conveniance of e mail. I think texting as well would just be the last straw.
Also, as someone who is no longer in the first flush of youth I find the abbreviations confusing.

I do text message with my friend. It is much easier to start/end conversation than calling. Also, i can save a copy of the massage as evident

Do it a lot but am not addicted to it. Actually too much of it can have an adverse effect on your language skillss in the forums
