I am hand coding an sms service whereby the user can send free text messages worldwide but especially to the UK. I have played around and put a lot of time and effort into this code, only problem is a major network vodafone does not work. The basic concept is you effectively send an email, phonenumber@carrier.ext The vodafone UK carrier vodafone.net however seems to not work. I have seen on another forum that they disabled it to prevent free text messaging. I was also told many other networks would follow disabling this option. My question is, is there any FREE way to send text messages to vodafone UK? AND, Is it likely that most phone networks will prevent this in the near future? because If so I have wasted a lot of time ! Thanks a lot. clowes
Well I own www.textoozle.com and I'm having a some emails that some foriegn carriers dont work. Its hard fore me to test since Im in usa
In this case vodafone doesn't work at all, and my query really is of anyone else has successfully sent a text to vodafone, and if so with what carrier adress. Thanks
Just in case, if you don't have them all, I have actually been working on a site and I did have a list of a few of them: Alltel @message.alltel.com Rogers (AT&T) @mmmode.com Bell Mobility Canada @txt.bellmobility.ca Boost Mobile @boostmobile.com CellularOne West @mycellone.net CellularOne Dobson @mobile.celloneusa.com Cingular Wireless @mobile.mycingular.com Edge Wireless @sms.edgewireless.com Fido Canada @fido.ca Metrocall @page.metrocall.com MetroPCS @mymetropcs.com Nextel @messaging.nextel.com NPI Wireless @npiwireless.com Rogers AT&T Wireless @pcs.rogers.com Qwest Wireless @qwestmp.com Sprint PCS @messaging.sprintpcs.com SunCom @tms.suncom.com SureWest Communications @mobile.surewest.com T-Mobile USA @tmomail.net Telus Mobility @msg.telus.com US Cellular @email.uscc.net Verizon Wireless @vtext.com Virgin Mobile USA @vmobl.com SouthernLINC @page.southernlinc.com Cellular South @csouth1.com Iridium @msg.iridium.com Cincinnati Bell Wireless @gocbw.com Unicel @utext.com Sprint PCS Mail @sprintpcs.com Cellular One Bermuda @c1.bm Cellcom @cellcom.quiktxt.com
Thanks for the list, I am not sure as to which I have/need but I will check. Does anyone have any idea as to whether phone providers will disable the ability to send free texts or not?
Corey Byrant, they're excellent! Do you have any UK providers... or for that matter, does any one have the "@carrier.ext" gateways for UK providers? Thanks, Michael
mcfc, our point is that UK carriers seem to have banned the system. For a lot of extensions just google it, thats where I got the main bulk from. If anyone would care to answer my questions, as I created this topic that'd be really appreciated. Thanks
I acutally believe that UK providers stopped because 90% of the people that complained about one of my providers not working was a UK user.
Sorry I have actually been trying to get some of the UK providers but it seems like a difficult task. I asked over at Howard's, but that proved useless as well. I thought that if I showed mine, someone would show theirs I'll keep pressing away though - it would seem that the US is far behind in this technology, yet I have not had many problems getting the email addresses
