I don't think that TLA will have anything to worry about. They have their brand going and are very well known for this service. Bloggers left and right sign up for TLA even before they're elligible. Looking at the various links already sold, advertisers know about them as well.

Their alright. They are much better for the publisher than the advertiser though.

They aren't good. I don't recommend using them. they take a 50% share so even if you manage to sell a link for 150 you only keep 75. And it's not like you will even get 5 minutes sold. I don't like them. I have them infact.

Their automated system has to approve your site first though, through my experience, so you've got to have decent traffic/PR/whatever they use to approve your site.

Yeah... But it is not so much about evil as it is about keeping the search result quality clean. Google was built with the premise that they will rank those SITEs higher which get Incoming links Organically. Each link was a Vote.

When we are buying links, and even I do :), we are in fact buying a Vote. Just like in real life where the rich always gets elected in an election..

But google is the election commissioner, and they want you to report paid links..

Adwords is not about organic placement, and unless you are a porn or gambling site, you can buy your ad anywhere.

Of course to keep the advertisement clean, google also charges less to those adverstisements which have a good quality ..

We have to consider all this when we go out to make some money off Google

So why don't you contact the advertiser directly and offer them a better deal to buy the link from you? If I paid $150 for a link per month and the site owner contacted me and offered to sell me the same link for $100 or even 120 I would probably go for it.

I have bought text links from TLA and I usualy will email the site and offer to go thru them directly for a longer period of time. This saves me money and the publisher makes more also

It's that logic that likely causes many sign ups to never get ads (it costs twice as much as it likely should) and causes many people to not even bother trying to sign up (why sell out for half?)

    They seriously take 50%?

They have just under 6,000 backlinks in Google (7 times more backlinks than the #8 for Text Link Ads in SERPS yet TLA are only #57) plus they have 6.85 million in Yahoo.

And don't forget their quite generous affiliate system. $25 per accepted publisher/client.

For the publisher this works great. I've heard people complain about the 50% cut, but the fact is their program saves people a lot of work for that 50%. I don't want to contact a bunch of advertisers every month or so and beg them to buy an ad on my site. I don't want to spend a lot of time figuring which links I need to put up and who owes me what. This system does it all for me, plus it's probably the most popular one so it's where more of the advertisers are going to be.

I wonder what will happen to reviewme, payperpost, sponsored review, linkworth.

Paid directories will also fall in this category. I mean paid links.
