TLA has become a real headache to me. The latest incident:

Two weeks before my recurring payment was going to be made, I uploaded funds for the payment. I ended up uploading about $200 dollars more than the recurring fee was. Of course I thought that this money was going to be used for the payment.

Then the payment day comes and no, they don't use the money I've uploaded but instead takes it from my credit card. Thanks.

I could still handle this and thought that I would ask them to do the next recurring payment from the credits I bought.

Today I logged in to see that I have $2 dollars credit left from the $500 dollars I uploaded. It seems that the friendly people of TLA had changed as many ads as possible to as expensive ads as possible within the limits of my credits.

Now my recurring fee is more than 2x what it was before and I have $2 dollars of credit on my account.

Did they ask me if it's okay to more than double my campaign budjet and use all my uploaded credits. No. This is what they sent me:

There was no mention that "BTW, it's gonna cost you as hell". I feel that this is almost criminal and I'm sure that I won't do business with them when this is sorted out.

    Just my 2 cents.

Have you tried calling them, they seem like pretty good folks to me, would suprise me if they didn't make things right.

I don't really trust text link ads, I have some bad experiences with them too.

Well in first place, why did you allowed them to replace your campaigns? Third, did you told them not to excessed a limit?

How ever this may serve you as lesson to keep the control over where your money is going by yourself, I have since always hated recurring billings, I prefer when I can push the "pay" button by myself once I verify everything is how it should be.

I haven't allowed them to do anything. They just did it and sent a notice to me afterwards. Secondly, for some reason it didn't use the money I uploaded. My intention was to do it in a "pay" way. Apparently credits are used only to let their staff buy more links without you knowing about it.

If I buy all the links for my self, without asking them for any support in buying, do you really think I should send them an email and ask them to not use my money to buy more links??

It's like you would go to the store and the cashier adds a couple of $5 dollar stickers and some tobacco "because you didn't tell them not to". Nice.

as a publisher, i've had ok experiences with them (personally i think linkworth's split is better).

they're currently selling links on individual posts in the $10-12/month range so thats working out pretty well for me!

oh, maybe they're selling them to Nikke86!

Yah, Text Link Ads isnt a reliable source for link building..... try other sites to build links, and there's tons of free options for building backlinks to your site.
