    Hi,

I hope this is the right category for me to post this thread to.

My keyword question regards keywords in Text Links.

I want to rank well for the keyword phrase "Renewable Energy". I am wondering if all of my Backlinks are "Nevada Renewable Energy Projects" will I still rank well for "Nevada Renewable Energy", "Renewable Energy" and "Energy"?

    Thanks :)

    :)

That is a very good question!

The way I understand this today is that you have to dedicate a page for each keyword you want your page to rank high for.

I use Market Samurai (bought the full version during a promo for $97) and this shows that there are a number of criteria search engines use to choose which page will rank highest.

Market Samurai is foremost a tool that helps one to find out if it is worth trying to compete for a certain search term or keyword.

Sometimes, the work you will have to put in to push your competition from the n°1 spot will be quite the challenge.

When you have a competing web page on the n°1 spot for your keyword in any SERP (search engine result page), these are some of the criteria that the search engine uses:

    1) Age of the domain
    2) Page rank of the site
    3) Number of back links to the site and the page
    4) Keyword in the title
    5) Keyword in the description tag
    6) Keyword in the keyword list

Some of your competitors might not have optimized for n° 4, 5 and 6 so that even if they have a very high number of back links and a higher PR, you will be able to compete against them if you do your optimizing for these.

Naturally, the content will have to be as valuable and original as possible, keep the keyword density between 1 and 1.5%, no more, or Google will see this as an attempt at bamboozling the SE algorithm.

    Hope this helps some, :)
