I run an image intensive resource website. At first I incorporated text based ads, and although my ctr wasn't very high, i was getting fairly decent earnings. A few days ago I switched to only image based ads, and my ctr exploded! My ctr went up 20x! However, I'm still getting the same amount of money... before my clicks were about 20 cents each, and now they're about 1 cent each. I want to stay with image ads, because I feel they blend in better with the site. Is it unusual that my image ads value are so low? Is there any way I can raise their value?
You might want to wait a week or more to see if Adsense adjusts your ePC (up or down).. if the clicks convert well for the advertisers the ePC should go up.
some sites incorporate their own images in line with their site layouts or themes. you can look up such sites and make adjustments.
Those image ads could be a lot of CPM than CPC, so its highly possible that you are getting paid for impressions than clicks.
godmode is right. Do you have any other ads displayed before your image ads? If so, it's possible that the high paying ads are showing up at the top and the lower paying ads are being displayed in the image ads. TearaBite also made a great point, wait until google's adsense bot comes back around to crawl the site again. Are these image ads relevant?
@tonyhill the only ads i have showing a 3 adsense image ads i would say yes, the ads are relevant for the most part. the ctr shows this. yeah, i think you guys are right, i just need to wait a while for google to reindex. if a site has a higher pagerank, is the value of each ad more?
Andre, there is no proven theory that higher PR gives you higher CPC. I wouldn't buy this theory in any case. However, recently google adsense team discussed "Quality of Landling Page" for adsense publishers. considering quality there could be 2-3 things they might access: 1) Pagerank to determine how important and relevant this page/site is. 2) Keyword density 3) Conversion rate for advertisers. Hope that helps.
