Testing a site with different browsers

    Hi,

I would like to test my html pages with different web browsers. Does that mean I need to install all browsers? Is there an application out there enabling some kind of simulation?

you don't have to install different browser just use firefox and internet explorer because it is the two most popular browser so you do not need to test it to other browser because once the html code runs good in an ie it is much okey with other browser

Not really true, at a minimum you need to test in FF, IE6 and IE7 which put together represent 90% of the market - they are about 30% each last time I looked.

There are websites that will simulate it for you but I have always found them fairly poor as you have to "queue" and keep checking back to see where you are in the queue.

The other consideration is your target market for the site, if you are doing a site about Macs (or things like graphical art where there are a much higher proportion of mac users) then you should really be checking the site on safari. Opera has a fairly small following but it is easy enough to install to do a small bit of testing that it is a fairly no brainer decision too

I checked http://browsershots.org . It is really nice. But having the browser installed is definitely more convenient. So, that is what I am going to do.

Thanks to all for the support.

I'd make your page work in these browsers:

    IE7
    IE6
    FF2
    Opera
    Safari

Usually FF, opera and safari work the same, but sometimes not.

I'd personally choose to have the browsers installed.
