I'm just wondering how they can be effective in terms of promoting a volunteer-driven Gallery 2 hosting service I help maintain. should one bother collecting testimonials from existing subscribers or scrap that idea and just rely on word-of-mouth to do the promotion side of things.... what are your thoughts on the subject? please advise, thanks.
Yeah ! Testimonials are having great importance. If u r new to hosting industry none of them will bother u.So u can get some great testimonials from ur users.U should also include complete detail, including site, email, name and country in testimonials !
you are start new Hosting business, so, testimonial is most important for you. because no one trust on new hosting company.so, get put your testimonial on website. it will give Trust & Reliability.
Other people can sell your product better then you can. Ever been in a store and took the work of another customer over that of the sales rep? Jeffery Gitomer in his book "little red book of selling" covers testimonials quite well. Since he does good I will leave it to him. Pick it up from your local book store or library and check it out. Testimonials are very important on internet. Give free service for some initial users and asked them to write a testimonial against of the free service. This is the tested way by hundreds of internet entrepreneurs.
I think testimonials provide some sort of asssurance for potential buyer, though, the trust levels for testimonials isn't very high.
generally its very much required to have testimonials so that you get the deal going very fast, otherwise new clients will ask u lot of questions, better to have a market reputation
Usually, due to the lack of personal touch, any extra testimonial could build trust. Testimonials are great. But do you know that there are ways to have them correctly written?Testimonials with just "The service is great, thank you!" does not help you the same way than concrete testimonials do, for ex "Due to your service, my ROI increased by 30% in a matter of 1.5 month." This would have a better result since it gives numbers and real results that people count on. Ask your testimonials in such a way!
testimonials being use as a tool to increase customers/visitors' trusts. it might not be that much effective than the services/products you providing but it will help the customers/visitors' to make a decision whether they will use/buy your services/products or not.
Yep, testimonial is a great way to quickly show your prospects that you are credible. That's why I always try to put a couple of testi on the top fold of my sales letter.
I think testimonials are a waste of time unless the person writing it permits to having his name, country and web sites hosted listed along side. Some testimonials are so blatently written by themselves they look ridiculous. Keeping testimonials in a public forum is the best way in my opinion
...but since testimonials are most times written by the good/service/etc. producer, their low trust levels don't come unexpected. I, personally, rarely trust testimonials because of the above reason.
Testimonials are only important if some well-known person will testify for you. Shawn's testimonial is good --- Joe Doe's testimonial, written by yourself, is not.
Yup, I agree. If you cant provide a link to their website with their name its pointless. And you can gaurentee that a lot of testimonials are written or atleast manipulated in some way by the owners. I dont like it when sometimes I receive testimonials that are just TOOO GOOD.. causeit looks like its faked in some way. I dont hold any important on testimonials, because actual word of mouth is far superior
Testimonials NEVER hurt to have on hand, they will only better your business at times, but are not necessary. If you show the value of your product or service effectively, testimonials are not necessary. If a testimonial is requested, re-address the issue, make sure there's credibility, proof of service, a true point of contact and that you aren't sending the client/customer to someone that will merely state that you "did work for them" - have a quality/reliable source. Instead of relying on someone else's word, make them believe in you and your service/product and the topic shouldn't arise.
I honestly believed some testimonials has been exaggerated or not true at all. Not all sites, but some website do lie about their testimonials. On the other hand, too many testimonials would be a bit awkward for your visitor. If you have a blog like mine rather than a static webpage, sticking up your visitor comment of your post would be a nice way to promote your site. There's a few nice plugin out there to do this so feel free to google Cheers!
Testimonials are just so easy to fake, it's really is difficult sometimes to tell if a testimonial is real or if it was just made up. Unless you read testimonials from someone you know, most people won't put too much value into them for the most part. For example, if someone here on this board had a site that had testimonials from respected members on here, that would carry some weight.
