Hello friends, here is a nice tool to test your website's load time for free. http://loadimpact.com/ Regards, Vinod
This tool can be dangerous for many websites. You wouldn't want other people to keep testing your website.
If the "Others" are competing with the given website, then they can use the tool to give bad reviews on their enemies, to keep people away from it due to high loading time and all. Anyway, there are still lots of other ways for finding this.
Hi all, and thanks for the interest in our service. (I'm from Load Impact) I just wanted to comment on the security bit - people often think Load Impact is a bit scary as it might be used for DOS attacks on some unsuspecting site out there. We have tried to do our best to eliminate that risk. Load Impact remembers every time it has started a test for a certain site. In fact, it remembers how many bytes it has transferred to/from every IP address it has ever communicated with. We have limits on how often Load Impact may generate load on/to a certain site, or to a certain IP address. This means that, for instance, an anonymous user trying to start a test for www.domain.com will be denied starting the test if *anyone* has used Load Impact to test www.domain.com 2 times or more in the last 24 hours. We also have limits on how many bytes Load Impact is allowed to transfer to/from a specific site/IP per 24 hours, aswell as limits per month. Registered users are trusted more than anonymous ones, and paying users are trusted the most. The more trust you have, the more tests you're allowed to run. Tests that are considered "large", that have several hundred simulated clients, require the user to create a special file (loadimpact.txt) on their site, or the test will not start. The free tests are low-volume tests with up to max 50 simulated clients. They also have an automatic cut-off feature that ends the test if the target server is starting to respond (too) slowly. All in all, we think that a serious DOS-attacker out there will probably prefer to use a botnet, without lots of built-in limits and protections. A "hobby-attacker" will probably prefer to use their own home PC, which is able to generate more load than the free tests on our site do. We know we will never be able to 100% eliminate the risk of abuse, so our aim is to make our system less attractive to abusers than other alternatives. Regards, /Ragnar, Load Impact
Hello friends, Thanks for appreciating my post. I checked the load time of my Google app engine webapps with this tool. Within minutes the webapp got 700 requests. It doesn't add to adsense pageviews. Regards, Vinod
Hi Vinod Thanks for writing about us! I thought it'd be nice to update everyone that Load Impact has new added features. One is a Page Analysis function that allows you to analyze your web performance: http://loadimpact.com/pageanalyzer.php We've also created a flash object that allows anyone to start a load test/page analysis from their website. You can get the code to place it in your site at http://loadimpact.com/info/integrate.php Do check it out! We'll also be launching a new load generator that will enable much more features and functions, so do look out for that too! All comments are, of course, welcome. We'd like to improve our service and make it even better as time goes by.
