http://www.priceasite.com is a new website a friend and I have recently developed. We haven't really got much input on what people have thought on our appraisal and that is the purpose of this thread.

Please check out our Free Website Appraisal system. It is completely free and requires no registration (at the moment). You are more than welcome to put in false information as we are not storing anything within a database for future use. In fact, we highly encourage you to play with it, you will see what impacts the outcome the most, but we want to ensure we are within the ballpark on our appraisals.

All constructive criticism is welcome! We appreciate any advice you can offer.

I tried it and its way off, I could get at least 10 - 15 times what it states. Nice site, but script needs refining I think.

We've found that most sites sell for around 10 x their monthly income. Appraisals should be fairly close to that. If you have the most elaborate design and code on your website, unless it is making money it shouldn't be worth too much. Our appraisals do not factor in potential. For example, when buying a vehicle, there are plenty of old cars that have potential to be nice ones. You typically do not buy it for its potential value, but for what it is worth at its current value. Therefore, our appraisals might be low if your site is not really generating too much income, but you expect it to in the future.

Most appraisal sites overvalue your sites, this one undervalues.

I got 50% of what I could sell one of my sites for.

I'd say it's pretty accurate on my site at the moment, but I wouldn't sell my site.

I seriously say this script needs some refining as gotlinks said

    A site earning $100-$120/month, appraised as $700

    wtf ?

Can an automated price really ever judge the price of a website? No.

Is this before you factor in your overhead expense? I think many people are looking at their revenue but don't factor in their overhead when they come up with their 10 months x revenue.

I also believe that there can be an automated system, mainly because it takes into account several factors that most other automated systems do not. The thing that it can't do is factor in potential.
