Test of Adbrite Inline Ads - dissapointed

I was curious to see how these would perform on a sports related forum I run that gets around 15-20k page views a day.

I'd say I have been running the inline ads for 4 or 5 days.

    Results were:

    Page Views: 59,782
    Clicks: 0
    Ad Revenue: 0

We all know ads don't normally attract a high CTR on forums but this is pretty dissapointing.... not ONE click from 60k ad views. Surely these inline ads must convert better than that? What are other peoples experiences?

I set the ad zone up correctly with a good selection of relevant keywords etc....

Yes I have been using AdBrite for the last week and I have to say it really sucks. Their support doesn't reply and their help goes to weak FAQs. I have a feeling that I'm not doing something right but AdBrite doesn't seem to give a sh*t. I'm about a couple days from dropping them.

All the sites I have found for support or tips etc. are cut / pasted junk. For AdBrite being such a huge ad syndicator I give them a 1/10.

Does anyone know of any good resources for tweaking or learning the in's and out's of AdBrite? I want to give it a chance before I shut the account down.

I was actually surprised with my results especially considering the claims they make.... millions of ad views and over 20k publishers, not to mention the impressive list of sites in their network.

Perhaps it was just the inline ads that didnt work for me that well, the other ad zones must work ok I am assuming.

No I didnt I must admint but honestly..... if you have it setup right and get 60k ad views you should see at least one click.

If its that hard to get a click its not worth using, not when theres a lot out there.

I did say I only tested the inline ads I havent had a play with their other ad formats, nor do I want to after that experience.

For me it was merely a curiosity thing why I signed up and published those inline ads. Im not all that worried but thought I would report back to DP members on my results.

I emailed them two days ago and didn't even get any automated "we received your message" emails. The only emails I've gotten from them are amateurish automated emails once I complete setting up an ad. These emails thank me for my ad and that they will be charging $0 to my credit card and it will be under the name AdBrite etc.

Are you kidding me? They can't even customize emails between publishers and advertisers?

I got over 2k impressions in the first day and only ONE interstitial and guess who that was? Me! Since then I've had more impressions and one more interstitial for me again which isn't credited in the control panel.

    AdBrite blows.

BTW the AdBrite forums and sites that I found were just bland useless info optimized for SEO to pull traffic, not to be of any use.

Yes I'm negative today sorry :-/

The system seems to have potential and more control than Adsense in the sense that you can tweak things on both sides (your page content AND in the control panel) but the mindless Adsense system is working for me at least.

Another note: The font size is HUGE in the Skyscraper text ads. Is anyone else having this issue?

I guess everyone has different experiences with any ad network and it all depends on a few factors like your site niche, traffic etc etc

The odds of that are extremely low. Almost sounds like its not tracking. I get about 800 uniques a day on a site that probably shouldnt convert very well but I still manage to get 10 or 20 clicks a day at the minimum, averaging 1.6% CTR

Oh I am sure there have been people who have had success, I don't doubt that at all. Thats why they are such a big network. I was just dissapointed with my results, thats all I am saying.

I have AdBrite inline ads on my ad zone (along with text ads) and the inline ads have never shown up on my screen. I think that there is a problem with them and they aren't currently working.

I have a comparison of Adbrite and AdEngage here. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2906991#post2906991

Inline ads are not the way you make a lot of money with adbrite anyway. Interstitual ads are the golden key to if you want to BANK with adbrite.

Well, the adbrite interstitial ads have $10 CPM, so those are def. good. Some of the best rates you can find for interstitial ads. But there's always a balancing act with those to make sure your visitors don't get annoyed.

Agree there is a balance you have to find with regards to earnings and also user experience.

The last thing your users want is every word on every page double underlined with an advert.

Balance is the key and sometimes less is more.

Yes, I think the key is that the greater the reward at the end of the link on your site, the more likely people are to be ok with the ad. If the user clicks on a link that says "Go here for your free t-shirt," they're more likely to be ok with sitting through an interstitial ad to get it.

Do you generate some earnings? Because they don't count CPM ads for clicks... Anyway i can agree with the bad support. Once i waited 3 weeks for an answer...
