Terrible revenue from high click site. How to improve?

    Hello

One of my sites has lately starting to get a high number of adsense views and clicks but the pay per click is just terrible.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve the pay per click?

The site is a soccer fansite (not the one in my signature). Today it has so far had 1710 adsense views. This has generated 558 clicks which is a great CTR of 32%.

The problem is however the revenue. So far this day i have made $10.60 which comes to below $0.02 per click. Are there any general tips on how i can improve the payout per click, like adding high paying keywords around the adsense code or something. Any suggestions are appriciated.

    Thanks in advance.

try experimenting with affiliate programs, adsense is great but you have to at least get .08 to .20 per click to make money but 0.02 really is pathetic ,.

2 of my sites are doing great with adsense however i had another site with the same problem like you and i replaced my adsense ads with an ebay editor kit and i was surprised on the results ...

Are they soccer related ads? It's hard to tell when we can't see. How many ad units do you have per page?

have you tried to use adsblocksite? i.e. block those lowpaying ads. Just test it out. for me, i have tried to block them sometimes back and turn out to be not so helpful at all.

Most of the ads that show up are for buying tickets to different soccer matches and things like that. I thought that those would be high paying ads as a lot of firms are selling tickets but maybe i am wrong.

I am currently showing two big adunits, one on top and one on the right side.

I have blocked some sites manually, the sites that i know are paying 0.01c (topten top8 and sites like that). This has usually been a good thing for my other sites so i do not think that is a problem here either.

Is there a good way to automatically block these low paying ads, or know which that actually do not pay out much, sometimes it is impossible to know if they pay much or not i think.

Maybe it is the niche, I don't think soccer sites pay enough

yeah. if your viewers are from american you aren't going to get that much for soccer tickets. it's hard to fill the first row of a soccer game more less the stadium in America

Soccer Shoe ads pay more than soccer tickets. I wonder if you can write some text on soccer shoes.

Maybe some alt tags on your pictures using the words "soccer shoes". Just some ideas to think about.

Holy crap. I've never heard of a site that gets 1710 impressions and generates 558 clicks. I would be more worried that Adsense doesn't tag you with an "invalid clicks" email and ban you. What are you doing, asking visitors to click? That kind of number is just unheard of to me.

BTW .02-cents or less clicks are the results of smartpricing.

I would also check server logs to see if you can identify any possible problems as that CTR is extremely high. The ads may not be paying $0.02 but many could have been counted as invalid - so I would definately look to investigate it.

If 100 of the clicks were genuine and 458 invalid - giving a more reasonable CTR of 5.85% and $10.60 was generated, the ads would be paying $0.10 - $0.11 which would seem more normal.

My advice is definately investigate why the CTR is so high as it looks like a lot of clicks may have been counted as invalid by G.

Sometimes you'll get that kind of CTR's.. my last 6 months CTR average is 25%.. can you believe it.. its all in blending and not asking the visitors to click..

Try evaluating the structure. Consider Google's Heat Map it can help you. Also check your content and refer to the Adsense sandbox.

You get CTR above 30? huh thats not a good sign , lol . According to me , the MAXIMUM CTR to avoid being banned is 15 .

I have actually been getting that high CTR on that site for 3+ months. It is just lately that i have started to get a lot of visitors also. Before the pay per click was $0.10+ now it has just dropped.

I am not asking my visitors to click or anything "fishy". I guess it is just good ad placement and luck that is the reason i get such a high CTR.

I'm not concern about CTR, because that alone is very deceiving and numbers are easily skewed. I'm more concern that he's nailing 1 click out of every 3 impressions that he's generating, from a total of 1700 impressions. That's simply incredible.

Are you absolutely sure you are not doing something that might get you banned? I have to keep saying, because I've been doing this for a while, and 1 click out of every 3 impressions from a high total impression amount is insanely hard to achieve. If you want to PM me your URL so I can look and see if you are violating the Adsense TOS or not, I would be happy to do so. If not, no problem, but I should reiterate that I have never encountered such astounding stats.

    Hello

I will send you an PM with the url. Seen good posts and thoughts from you before so would apprisate the check if i am actually doing something that is not allowed (even if i highly doubt it).

Hoping that you do not give out the url or reveal other information about the site :)
