I signed up for Adwords , and i really expected more than this .
Every 1000 impressions i get one click , no matter how attractive the ads are .
Seems people are trained not to click on adsense any more ?

Or maybe i am doing something wrong , any advice from experts here is appreciated .
Is there any thing that can be done to improve the ctr ?

AdWords or Adsense? Two very different programs. Anyways, you might want to consider using different keyword match types and using negative keywords within your adgroups. This will likely drive more targeted traffic and lower your CPC. Experiment with keyword insertion when testing your ads.

I am talking about Adwords . Each 1000 impression yields 1 or 2 clicks at most . I cant go for the per click option , I found my keywords too expensive .
I would like to know whats an acceptable number of clicks per 1000 impressions , and what are the results every one is getting on there .

IF you're doing the cpm route, that is not that bad. Why not give cpc a try though?

sounds like you have content network on.

    This is typical.

Turn it off and you will see better results.

I guess your point is that the CPC cost is too high for your keywords so you have taken the CPM route for the content network?

How much is the CPM route costing you per click? what return do you get from those clicks?

As Robert sugested why don't you try the CPC model on the seach network, have a small budget and look at long tail/specific keywords rather than generic.

    Good luck

To increase your CTR, there are a few things you can do:
    - Turn off content network.
    - Use more specific keywords. Make sure you enter them in "" or [].
    - Use negative keywords
    - Inckude the keywords inside your ads text.

I think he may be talking about placement-targeting campaign for CPM bid.

If that's what you are talking about, try to find out which websites which you have a lot of impression and not having clicks, and try to move the website to another adgroup and improve it. That will improve your CTR for the one getting clicks.

BTW, They also have a CPC bid.

Yeah, you are doing CPM.. you should go for "placement targeting" and be sure to place the ads specifically on pages that have hot "adsense" ads on it... so go look at the adsense heatmap and make sure you understand that ads above the fold will have greater CTR... when you do this you'll have 100-150+ clicks per 1000 impressions, (if your ads are as good as you say!) That's really, really good return on investment as that usually results in $0.01 or less clicks...

The key is to drop the sites that doesn't work and keep the ones that do work =)
