Hello DP, I need advise from you guys. I want to offer free templates on my site. I was thinking of doing it on a sub domain. for example http:// themes.mysite.com I am debating whether I should pick themes or templates as my sub domain? IMO template sounds better but its few characters extra than themes thus making it long.. what do you suggest? I will appreciate your opinion. Also I have plans to add some other directory tools/mods etc so what else I should consider? http:// resources.mysite.com
can you please give a reason to support your answer... I do like templates But I want to keep url short... ( or does long url matter) I think I am begin too picky
i'll choose themes. templates doesnt suit well for directories. phpld for example. phpld themes sounds better than phpld templates. and it gives a bonus of being a short url as well. Well its only me whose saying, lets see what others have to say.
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=81 What do you see? People like call the directory templates "templates" and wordpress templates "themes".
I am planning to add other things for directory owners..... so what other options I have? resources? does it sound good?
Well like i said, its only me. If 'templates' is the OFFICIAL word for directories then i'll stick to it. If not, i'll go against the majority.
Themes seems more "hip" if that's even possible, but I would go with templates. Most people could associate it with Wordpress as someone already mentioned. so +1 for templates from me.
set up multiple subdomains, and redirect them all to your absolute favourite - then it doesnt matter!
If you still couldn't make up your mind.. just play with Google trends http://google.com/trends?q=templates,+themes
See what people are actually searching for (and not in general, but in direct relation to phpld), and that's what you should use.
