Template Help

I've downloaded a template with the following files:

    images
    template.psd
    index.html
    style.css

I can't find out how to edit the text (content) within the website.

I have tried to edit index.html from filezilla but it opens in Firefox (browser). If I try to open it in word and I upload the file to the server, it doesn't display correctly.

I am new so I could be overlooking something simple but I just need a little direction.

Thanks for the help in advance! :)

I just downloaded an editor and it seems to work so far. What are you all using for a text editor? Free preferred!

Notepad will work if you can't get anything. Just drag the .html file into notepad, or open Notepad and go to File->Open and select the file. From there you can hit CTRL+F and do a search for some of the text you want to replace, and it'll bring you down through all of the HTML code right to where you need to edit.

Everything I edit it with, breaks the website. It doesn't display any photos and the alignment is all screwed up.

    I'm lost :(

try some webpage editing software like dreamweaver ...
try searching on google for free html editors.....
its WYSIWYG so you are more likely to not break up the page design..

You can use notepad or an HTML editing software.
