I have a romance site but I can't get many people to give me their true feelings about it. Please be brutally honest and tell me what you think about it. My site is www.weeklyromance.com
I really detest the color scheme. In Firefox 3.5.2, the blue text you have in the center content area is lower than the surrounding text. Just doesn't seem right to me. You've got broken links on your link page. http://www.notiedating.xxxdated.com/ is incorrect as the 'www' replaces the 'notiedating' bit. 30% opf the net and all the major search engines won't follow such a link. I don;t like the book page either. The image on top of the text. Can you wrap the text maybe around the image? I would think it would look better. No offense intended but it really looks like a geocities site from like 10 years ago.
I'll be honest. It's really really ugly. It doesn't look like it was done by a professional web designer, but mostly it's ugly.
The pages are grotesquely cluttered. Just taking all the Adsense away would improve it about 300% (and probably increase your income from the affiliate parts, too, as getting rid of Adsense generally tends to do), but a colour-scheme change would help, too.
Well the color scheme is purple/pink now, so hey steps were taken to correct that blue you all hated; that's a +1 solely for the effort. Other than that, the site seems too simple to the point people would probably think it was just one of those "ad sites" and the content or links would be fake so they wouldn't bother clicking them. Look at other relationship sites and see how they do it, what they put the emphasis on as soon as the page loads, and where they try to guide the person viewing the site to their content and ads.
Gotta admit I'm thinking some sort of white background with black text and like roses would look good. It is supposed to be a romance site after all, right?
Thanks for all the advice, Check back with my site tomorrow I am changing it right now. www.weeklyromance.com
I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but the font size used in the menu could stand to be bigger to draw more visual focus.
