Word of Warning, I'm harsh... but that comes with being completely honest and having NO tact. You have been warned.

So... 'scuse me while I whip this out.

Well, on a 'large font/120dpi' machine your layout is broken in several spots - likely from the use of dynamic fonts inside a fixed container... your default font sizes are so absurdly small as to be unusable for the vision impaired... and in some places for those with normal vision because of the small text with low-contrast colors.

If you are worried about bandwidth you are chewing WAY too much for goofy graphics that don't even render properly or have elements line up right on screens >1024 pixels wide... and you are WAY too tied to VML meaning you basically had to write the site twice - once for IE and once for everybody else.

You appear to be stuck in table hell, yet it also appears that a lot of your elements are absolute positioned or otherwise not positioned via flow (probably why the menu screws up at screen widths >1024)... Your non-semantic markup means that accessability is at a all time low, and search engines are going to waltz right past the site like it never existed.

In general it feels like some content just slapped atop a picture, more like some goofy winamp skin than a website...

Sorry, I call 'em as I see 'em.

For improvements, I'd suggest switching your layout elements that could be dynamic like the main content box to dynamic fonts and let that expand vertically, or even horizontally as well... for fixed elements I would recomment increasing your font sizes 25% or MORE.

THOUGH, I will say you've done a decent job keeping the image sizes under control - It's low enough I'd just axe the VML and feed the same copy to everyone.

looks templateish. the fonts(type), layout.. pretty much the whole thing needs work. (unless you were going for another myspace-style site for yours)
