OK...here's my advice....take what others tell you here with a huge grain of salt, because many will just PUSH their program on you. My advice would be for you to take a look at http://www.associateprograms.com/discus/index.php for Allan Gardeyne's "Best Affiliate Programs" (more specifically http://www.associateprograms.com/articles/160/1/Best-affiliate-programs). His list is not the be-all, end-all, but it is a good list. I also am very pleased with the affiliate program's on my site (first site in sig), but you need to judge if any of these programs....Allan's or mine...are right for you and your circumstances.

Ok, what kind of affiliate programs are you talking about?

Cost per click?
Cost per sale?
Cost per lead?

For cost per sale, I would say something like Paydotcom or Clickbank.

For CPA offers, I would have to go with HydraMedia, COPEAC and MaxBounty. A few other good options are CPA empire, Filinet and AzoogleAds. No aff links here, so you gotta Google them.

There are many good affiliate programs on the web. Asking for the best will never happy as just because one person find's the program the best doesn't mean you also will.

There are 100's of programs that pay and are very good. How good they are depends on how much work and effort you put into it. If you just join and then add it to a site with no traffic, then you will get peanuts.

Other than that, Adsense seems to be alright plus CPA affiliate Networks and some CPM networks. There are many of these types of programs on the web, which is shown by my sig.
