I asked the same questions last week. In regards to selling an idea, there are numerous ways to market it. If it is an online business, you want just want to to sell the idea to one person. Without an actual business plan you wont get that much for it. If your idea can be used by multiple people. i.e. Selling Toothpaste to your local school. Than you can probably write an eBook and sell it to people on ebay or use PPC.
It's kinda "on the edge of the wall situation". I assume you are referring to situations when you have an idea, want to capitalize, but you are scared where the listener will implement it and beat you even before you think about it, right ? One of the ways, you can shell/share your idea with your programmer or prospective partner, is by asking them to sign a NDA with a clause saying they are not supposed to implement the idea without your consent. The other way is to share and shell it with people who you know well or are reputable. For this, you do not need to go to any of the other forums. You can do it right here on DP. My serious suggestion, business means business, so whether friends or not, new or old contact, get an NDA before you discuss any further. You'll be legally right in case anything goes stray. ~G
