Ok so today I entered A niche I selected Almost 60 main keywords and set up ad groups and ads that were relevent etc. I let it run for about 6 hours ( I was an idiot and forgot to turn off the content network) Any ways After the 6 hours i picked the few keywords that were bringing in searches it narrowed down to about 15. No I intend to really neatly pack them together and create better ads. Tell me if I am wrong. The reason Why i didnt keep the whole 60 was becuase it would be over whelming to track all of them at once, and keep tabs on every thing. It only cost me $10, $5 of that went to the content network (unfortunately). But I learned my lesson lol
if there are some KWs that don;t get any impression or clicks at all, then you can remove them. but if there is SOME impressions and clicks, then it doesn;t hurt keeping them. 60 KWs are not a lot to keep track of. you can just devide then in seperate groups. for long tail KWs, put all the KWs in one groupd that have one word match. if you can devide and group them preoperly, you can write good ad copy and can maintain good QS
why is it bad to use content network? It's not bad to use it - but it is a mistake to 'bundle' it in with your search campaign (why do google still do that? - all the changes they've made recently, but they still do that. Odd) A lot of new adwords customers don't even realise that it is included until they disable it. The best way to do a 'content' campaign is to do separately from a search camapign -it doesn't use keywords in the same way, and you probably want slightly different ads for it.
I would personally have left them running for at least 2 days (unless its way too expensive) because within a 6 hour period you can't be certain that a certain keyword will never be searched for outside of that period.
