Telemarketers Are Scamming With Caller ID

Recently a woman called my house to complain about my constant telemarketing calls trying to sell satellite TV service. I had never made any such calls. She assured me that it was my number that showed up on her caller ID!

Not much later it happened to us. We started getting telemarketing calls with local names and numbers showing up on the caller ID

Evidently they have discovered a way to fool the caller ID system to get people to answer the phone and to avoid the blocked calls.

This is definitely illegal, make a police report, I am sure that the telecoms company will be able to trace the crooks.

In my country, unsolicited telemarketing calls are not allowed if you don't like them and you have to register with the service provider in this regard. I don't know about the rules prevailing in your country...

I didn't either, that's why I had to Google up more info about it.

I had thought that the phone system was pretty safe since it's controled by the phone companies themselves. From what I can tell the phone companies let this happen. They gave up control over the caller ID information to other companies that sell their spoofing service. I guess anyone can do it and it's all perfectly legal.

hey buddy this is know as number cloning , just visit near police station and file complaint as soon as possible . They can make ransom calls to others and in this case you will be behind bars because those guys will recieve your number in id , i have faced this problem most of the time this guys get details from call centers like number owner name house number everything and than make illegal use of their numbers .

I wonder where I can buy this technique..

no but seriously I get calls from telemarketers and bill collectors everyday. This one bill collector calls almost everyday and asks for me like he knows me really well. They do this so that your friends or family will say "yeah he's here" and hand you the phone. He's almost like family now I should invite him for dinner.
