That would be terrible! I do not think he deserved it but I would have at least known to turn your phone off.

let you phone ring in the court house i go to and it will cost you 300 bucks to get it back.

Have a little respect for the judge and the people going in front of them

if your phone rings when your in the university hall eating it costs you $60.00 =) so i have to say if it rang in a court i would want them to be placed in a cell for a few days.

This seems to be a problem in many classrooms too.
Funny thing is I remember my professors taking cell phones call too.
These were business classes so they deemed it as ok.

    If I was there

If I was him I would have defied the Judge and I would not have said sorry

This is too much from a judge and these courts always misuse contempt of court for silly reasons like this....

Contempt of Court law needs to be scrapped in all countries ,These lawyers, attorneys and judges think that they are themselves above law and do silly things like this....

There is a limit for everything...

Well, courts have certain rules and procedures. In our country it also has the same setting. In fact there are even lawyers in our courts that are fined when their cellular phone are not set on silent mood since this will disturb court proceedings.

You would've thought that by now, they would have some kind of blanket technology which could put all mobile technologies on silent within a designated proximity. Would minimise disruptions in classrooms, courtrooms, hospitals, restaurants, cinemas and a bunch of other public places.
