    Hi,

I own a teen forum, already pretty active but how should I get more traffic?

right now I get only 2000 uniques a day, sometimes above 200 and sometimes below 50 to that. But I am getting 20k page views a day.

The only source of traffic is google for my site right now. Any way to get visitors from any other sources?

    Please help!

Where do you find many teens? Myspace ;)

What marketing method have you done already? (so I can get an idea of what you haven't tried).

I tried social bookmarking sites like Digg, Netscape. No help!

I tried to buy myspace bulletins from someone in here and I got 0 traffic. I tried with him again, again 0 traffic. I think myspace has been spammed or maybe he did not do it correctly. But he was the only one getting most buyers. So I gave up!

Any more ideas on myspace marketing? I registered on myspace, but it sounds too alien to me.

And I have tried, no marketing yet. Only traffic I ever got is from google. Google only! Seriously!!!!

Myspace marketing may not be the best. Have you tried facebook? ;)

Anyways, do you have a budget for marketing your site? You can always try link exchange with other similar niche sites.

No niche sites are good enough. 1 was student.com but its PR6 and wont reply to my email I sent maybe. I did a few with good sites and bought a few. It will help, but in a bit of time. Facebook, I heard but never registered. I'd just check in what it is. It is like myspace?

How do we market in social networkings? Make friends and comment on their profiles? Spam ?

You don't need to build a new forum - just try to post more content, and have a page where your helps can get "promote" links, and banners to help promote your teen forum.

No I ain't building a new forum. I was saying that promoting an already established forum is easier than promoting a new forum which is usually dead.

I think that idea is great. I saw my sites already have pre made banners, text link codes displayed, so others can link it or promote it. Thanks. I appreciate that idea! :)

Maybe create some sort of incentive, like giving the forum members "friend points", for bringing in new members. Once the new members do 100 posts they get a free thing.

Or they get a cool symbol.

Have you seen SparkPeople? Something like that. In fact, you could even use their little wheel idea.

I have that in mind. I am eyeing Referral Bonus Features to those who recommend. They will get points, reputation points, features like unlimited PMs, always free custom title etc.

But I am so lazy to do it. Actually leaving the town for college. Thats a nice idea ya :) Thanks

You could try to get users from bebo to join your forum as most of them are teens.

The guy that started SparkPeople sold his (original Ebay-like) idea to Ebay for $Millions. With that money, he started SparkPeople to help folks lose weight and stay healthy. He had lots of money to have a team write this unique website.

I think we could use their ideas though. They give lots of incentives for things such as; doing a Google Search, reading articles, posting a certain amount of times, watching a video.

All of which earn the users points. Great way to get people to use all your site has to offer. They stopped short of getting the members to click on the advertisements though. Haha!

    Pretty cool!

Huh, I never thought of actually calling someone and asking them to link to me. That's a novel idea! ;)

I do it by post as well
    Just do a standard letter
People are educated to ignore emails
When I had a few days spare once I made only about
5 calls but pretty sure they all linked to me
I gave them links back from other sites
