Forum is basicly one of the hardest ways to earn money on. But if you only get a decent amount of posting members then I dont think there will be any problems.

Well one thing that comes to mind is that teens are less likely to buy things, because they generally do not have to much money. Of course since your not actually selling something, and just offerind ad space it could work. My advice would be to go for it. You never know, this small business idea could turn into a profitable asset.

Sorry Businessman but I believe your wrong about that. Teens are way more likely to by thinks, they usually have parents money to spend and if they have a job they are just dying to buy things that are in style. So if you do think of selling something just make it things teens want! But since it's a forum I think there will be a lot of good opertunities for a teen forum!

Teens will buy things...just not what you are usually selling. Anything catered to adults like home mortgage is out of the question.

MoneyBiz is correct. You could have affliate ads for tec toys like Ipods and the sort to boost revenue. Adsales once once you get high traffic will also produce some nice revenue.

I guess if you have tons of members you can sell ad space but I don't know if teens nowadays use forums. They seem to get use all their internet time on MySpace and Youtube..

I think this theme is very general. Try to choose a special theme for your forum. Games, SEO, travelling...

I think that the teen forum 'market' is saturated, but it depends on what you are offering. However I would say most teens will stick with facebook, bebo, myspace ect. But I suppose there may be space for one more? Who knows.

Well, now that I take a second look at it. It all depends on what kind of ads you have on your site. It also depends on the kind of teens that visit your site, meaning you need to get teens that are willing to buy what you are offering. Therefore you will need to do some keyword research to target the right crowd. If you can do that, you'll be on the road to success.

No, his post was exactly correct.

A teen forum - that's a stupid idea. There are already a ton of really popular ones...and a generic teen forum is too difficult to promote and monetize. However, a teen gambling forum...or a teen makeup forum...or a teen fighting forum...or something else more specific and unique might work.

The hardest thing to do is to probably to get the teens to be interested in your forum and actually post. don't choose a topic that would cause some people to get mad and maybe try to close your forum or something, like teen fighting...

Be smart and maybe try to advertise on facebook or myspace. Facebook would probably be best since it is becoming more popular for teens in the area where I live. :D

I think if you worked it right it could work. Teens love to chat and as most chatrooms are now obsolete, forums are a close 2nd best.

    You are an idiot.

Teens would LOVE something controversial that other people find offensive. A teen fighting forum (I meant more like MMA than street fighting) would DEFINITELY interest teenagers.

Of course I understand that it would get a lot of teens interested and you would probably get a lot of traffic. I'm just saying that if you want to make a great forum that you want to profit on for a long time you don't want articles and posts saying that your website is horrible and that it sucks. But yes, a forum about fighting as a sport might be a good idea. Sorry, I thought you meant street fighting. :D

I'm sure street fighting would get a lot of traffic as well, but I would also recommend going towards the MMA path.

It can be a good business, but it will take a whole lot of work to separate yourself from the thousands of other Teen forums out there. It's a pretty over saturated market, but if you're willing to promote it well, it could turn out good.

I think it could work, there are lots of companies out there that would love to advertise on such a site in order to attract the teen market to their product. Teens don't always have lots of money, but they do like to spend lots.
