So at 5:30 this morning I'm digesting my usual regiment of bullsh*t, spoon fed to me by the lunatic fringe at MSNBC and I nearly dropped my coffee when I saw this clip.

In this clip we see Dr. Lessig, leftist extrodinaire, patron saint to the minority left trying to stir up some populism in favor of higher taxes (US Uncut, Coffee Party, etc) appearing side by side, on the same side as......

    wait for it.......

Mark Meckler, Co-Founder of the Tea Party Patriots!!!

The two sit side by side (actually top to bottom with Lessig on top ;) ) talking about the SHARED VALUE of a government that does not represent it's constituents (AKA Cronie Capitalism), in preparation for a CO-HOSTED EVENT at Harvard University.

The unbalanced panel, lead by Rachel Maddow's male stand in (who is trying hard to look like her, glasses, penis, and all), spends its time expressing extreme doubt, disgust, distrust, and assailing Meckler with questions as to whether he is ready to "Learn something" and "change his [misguided] beliefs" at this event, or if he is simply going to "Bloviate" his simpleton's ideas at this event.

I thought both Lessig and Meckler represented themselves perfectly, acknowledging extreme differences in views as to how much government we need, but acknowledging that we do have a constitutional crisis insofar as our elected representatives are beholden to special interests and not serving the interests of the people they supposedly represent.

It is a landmark event, IMO, because you have a guy like Lessig who is deeply respected by the left, assuming they don't take away his commie card for this, giving credence to the idea that the Tea Party is anti cronie capitalism, undermining a major talking point the people on MSNBC and their handlers have been perpetuating for 18 months.

The truth is, the Tea Party has ALWAYS been anti-Cronie Capitalism. They have simply decided(smartly IMO) to focus on the politicians rather than the companies. You will never get companies to stop offering bribes(Kick-backs, benifits, sweetheart deals, post service jobs, etc, etc, etc), but you can go a long way to punish politicians who even have an appearance of taking them.

I've said it myself many times, but the angry folks on the left, and the angry folks on the right, and the angry folks in the middle have way more shared issues and values than anyone on the Cable News Networks want to give air time to. Without a perpetual state of conflict, their ratings go down. The heads of those media conglomerates (Fox OR MSNBC) also benefit from the very cronie capitalism the populist angst is increasingly being directed at.

Who knows if this is going anywhere beyond a single meeting, but if more guys like Lessig get on board to fight corruption, the status quo will be in a lot deeper sh*t than it already is. Being a cynic, my guess is the left will burn him at the cross before he gets too far, but not without further marginalizing themselves.

I agree. I always felt that most Americans share common interests in causes that will enable success, support the impoverished, and a basic fairness. But through the manipulation of language, the extremes create conflict.

It's hilarious to me when Barney Frank and John Kerry accuse the Tea Party Movement of not being willing to compromise, and "holding American hostage", as if expecting an elected politician to actually keep their campaign promises is outrageously unfair and a threat to the Republic.

According to Ms. Garofolo, the Koch brothers are paying Cain to associate himself with Republicans and/or the Tea Party for the sole purpose of hiding their obvious racist roots. By extension, they must also be paying the Tea Party voters in Florida who voted for Cain by a double digit margin over every other white candidate. Is there no low those tea party racists will not stoop to?

Ms. Garofolo offers some further insight into the mentality of a black person or a woman who is willing to allow themselves to be labeled a conservative, using the words "Self loathing", "Stockholm Syndrome", implying the words "Uncle Tom".

I, for one, am glad to see Ms. Garofolo speaking out against the use of someone's race or gender to make slurs against their character. These are the exact type of outspoken voices we need to end racism in America.

She reminds me a bit of these two bold spokesmen speaking out boldly against the haters in America:

I'd be willing to bet that Garofolo had NO IDEA who the Koch brothers were until she heard someone complain about the Koch brothers.

I'd like to see Garofolo donate as much money to cancer research and the arts as Fred has and does to this day.

Garofolo believes in her prejudices. To her twisted logic, any lack of evidence of her prejudice means it is being covered up which is proof her prejudices are valid...!

That video made me feel uneasy, couldn't give a crap about the politics of it all, but it makes it obvious that terrorism has won. Fuck em, I'm with the lemonade sellers.

That is probably the best way to describe her and how here twisted mind works... Is there a diagnosis for this type of condition/behavior? A lot of liberals seem to suffer from the same plight.

All joking aside, it is called self loathing. I was shocked to actually hear her admit to it in this very video. It is the same phenomenon that often causes closeted homosexuals to be homophobes and gay bashers. She sees the racism in herself, hates it, and projects it onto everyone else.

There can be little argument that people like her, and other "Anti-Racists" like Rev. Al Sharpton, and Rev. Jesse Jackson, have done more to perpetuate the racial divide and black poverty than almost any run of the mill conservative they accuse of racism.

She has the look of someone that was emotionally abused as a child.

When I was (briefly) a consultant for the Democratic party, they had characterized the Democratic base extremists as "adult children". The profile had things like, believes the ends justifies the means, lies to make their point, prone to extreme anger, always identifies with and as a victim. Democrat extremists will quickly show HATE against a man who shows himself to be a strong father figure even before they open their mouths to say anything. Republicans are Daddy-figures, Democrats are Mommy-figures.

It's either borderline personality disorder or dependent personality disorder.

I think the Tea Party started out OK kind of like a freshman senator or congressman, good intentions but naive. They really can't or won't do anything to make the goverment smaller and once they get in with all of the career criminals in washington they kind of lose their way!

You could make that statement with some accuracy about any person sent to Washington to represent us. I'm cynical but not that cynical.

You vote the bastards out, you send in your new peeps, when they turn into bastards (happens very quickly), you vote them out too. If you expect to run this nation on autopilot, you deserve the government you get.
