In the adsense settings, do they need to check that they have activities in the US or NO activities in the US.

I read alot about this on the forums, but everyone is just GUESSING, which makes it only more confusing ...
So please answer only if you know 100% sure.

    Regards

No one knows, that's the point. I'm offering a way you can get the right answer. The right answer is probably NOT on this board.

If I remember well, it's if you own a computer or an office in the us... renting is not equivalent to having us activities, you're just a customer of an US company that has US activities. I checked it like this years ago and still never heard of anything and get paid.

I have many different sites on different servers hosted in many different places... so they have to split what comes from an US hosting and from a Canadian hosting to know what is taxable or not... bla bla bla ... ZzzZzz ... you know what I mean... lol

This fax, relating to tax,is what I had to send to a company in the USA and might make it a bit clearer.

"I *******, certify that I am not a United States Citizen, and that my business with ****** is not effectively connected with business in the United States. I do not have any employees in the United States nor do I own any equipment related to ****** earnings in the United States.
    Signed and Dated."

Using a USA server seems to be ok.

I have never had any problems with Adsense. I lease a dedicated server in the US but I have no operations there. You would not be required to pay taxes to the US but you are probably liable to pay taxes in your home country. This is not Google's problem and therefore you should not have to fill in any forms at all as far as Google is concerned.

Google pay my earnings straight into my Norwegian bank account, no problems there.

    Edit:

Here is what the TOS says:
"For non-U.S. taxpayers, this information includes without limitation either a signed certification that the taxpayer does not have U.S. Activities (as described on the Google AdSense: Tax Information Page located at https://www.google.com/adsense/taxinfo, or such other URL as Google may provide from time to time) or a fully-completed Form W-8 or other form, which may require a valid U.S. tax identification number, as required by the U.S. tax authorities."

Note that in your Adsense account there is an electronic wizard that you can use.
