"Largest Deficit" hmmm lovely liberal catch phrase. Do you even know what a "Deficit" is? It's not the national debt. (there's your only hint) Paying for what? The top 50% of wage earners in this country (the US) pay 96.54% of All Income Taxes! That is a FACT! Pretty friggin scary if you ask me. The top 1% Pay More Than a Third of all taxes in this country 34.27%. Another FACT! Who will be paying for it? Those that have been and continue to pay for it. The rich! The mean nasty corporations that all you flakey libs have some much disdain for. Only the rich pay taxes in this country! That is a FACT.
Mia, do you think it bad for rich people to pay more taxes? Dude those top wage earners own everything Do you understand that? almost half the country owns .3 percent of the wealth, and you are crying about rich people having to pay their share of taxes? Mia debating you is like mind candy to me, its so easy to pick apart your logic and poke holes in your positions.
Openning an account in Cayman Islands is not a problem, anyone can do it, but you need to go there to every month to put your checkue?!
Actually I'm not convinced. You see, poor people in the US would be rich elsewhere, so they feel poor because there are richer people, but they aren't.
Of course they will pay more taxes. They make more. However, they should not be paying a higher percentage, which they are. That is the argument I am making. Liberal tax 101 as explained by Jer: I make 100,000/yr. Ferret makes 10,000/yr. We both go to the same grocery store to buy a 50 cent can of soda. Because I make 100,000/yr, I have to pay $100 for the 50 cent can of soda. Because Ferret makes 10,000/yr, he only has to pay 10 cents for the can of soda. That is the way taxes work in the US. That is NOT what I call fair. We both pay the same for consumer goods in the US, NO MATTER what we earn. However when it comes to taxes, the rich pay a higher percentage than the "not rich". The middle class get screwed even more (thanx to 8 years of Clinton, though under Bush we in the MC, have been helped tremendously lately). So again, yes it is quite natural that the top wage earners will pay more. But they should not be paying more than their fair share. You keep thinking that. You are about the only one beside Gwhacko and perhaps one or two others I can think of.
Mia while I do agree with you, I think it is bogus that the rich get taxed far above the poor....I would not support fully getting rid of the current system until all of the benefits the rich get in tax breaks are axed out, it's funny those in favor of taxed being the same acrossed the spectrum never bring up all the perks they recieve as well. Make $200,000 but deduct/hide $50,000, lose that and most rich would more than likely keep the 'higher tax' I know I sure would.
Good point. In 2004 the poverty level for one single adult under 65 was $10,000/year. Considering that at that level you don't pay any taxes, I could easily live on that if I were single, hell I have and I certainly did not feel poor. The liberal mentality in this country has left too many American's spoiled. They have spread this gimmie, gimmie, gimmie, mine, mine, mine, nonesense for too long. You've got to work, work, work. Class envy. You've gotta love it. It's really quite childish if you think about it. Be thankful for what you have, and what you kept the government from stealing.
I am for a 100% across the board FLAT TAX, NO DEDUCTIONS. Under a flat tax, even with deductions, the rich would actually pay more than they pay now. That is the thing many fail to realize. Perhaps they do realize it, as we have yet to achieve a flat tax. With the elimination of deductions you can also reduce the cost of paper, IRS employees, etc.. Think about a one page form for everyone. I made X, now multiply by .010 and away you go. Aside from this I think that all private corporations should not have to pay any income tax. The money they save can be used to higher new employees, expand their business, or allow the owners to actually make a bit of cash.
Then I am in agreement with you even more. The entire argument however of waaa the rich pay more in tax...well that is true I'm at the highest level, but weighing that in with getting rid of the deductions I'm better at the highest level currently... Flat tax however I feel would be a fairer system, even if I do pay a bit more in taxes I am still swaying to accepting this system...I've even written my congressman as such. ---edit on the 'flat tax' private corp not paying any taxes has such a huge potential for abuse I could never accept that. Even though it would greatly benefit me, it has way to much potential to be abused which outweighs any good out of it unless it was so strictly run it would go against 'or at least I thought' any Republicans view point on government control...
This might be brutally obvious---but for the not so well healed here it may apply(US citizens) make less than 70 or 80 K and live outside the US for 11 months a yr---no taxes. You still need to file a returm. Business owners---the US Virgin Islands has EDC. This is dry, but inteligible. http://www.ayervirginislands.com/tax.asp
I did. I required a $15,000 operation. I was not refused health care. They took me in, operated, I recovered, and about 2 weeks later the hospital called, asked how I was doing and worked out a payment plan. I made payments and paid off the bill in 3 years. Now that I have insurance, I have been sued three times by the same hospital. Go figure.
$15,000 isn't a real bad bill number 1, you also were able to increase your earnings from there number 2. I'm all for making people work for themselves, however there are people that do need help, I have no problem helping those who need it. How could you pay $15,000 off in 3 years? Unless you were living at home that is...Making $10,000 a year, out on your own, paying for rent, food and all other bills it doesn't seam very plausible or believable to me. Possibly in the best of circumstances it is, not everyone who makes $10,000 is in the best of circumstances though. ---edit Of course if you're talking about $10,000 from lets say 10 years ago that might be more believable, you however can not reasonably use the same amount in todays world.....
The idea of a FLAT TAX tickles me, although I haven't even considered any implications. They have been talking about that in the UK for a while, possibly the Tories bringing that in if they win the next elections (no way). Unfortunately Gordie the Greedy wouldn't agree, he likes it complicated, that's why from 300 pages of tax regulations he made it 900, more or less, but just to give you an idea.
Really? Seemed quite expensive at the time. It would likely be three times that now. But you do not accomplish that by taxing the crap out of people that work for a living. I like to think we are all capable of helping each other. Who hear has never helped a friend when they were down or been helped themselves. I don't need the government to do that for me. No interest, and obviously over a 3 year period my income grew. Who stays at one level every year? It was a while ago, and I was living with my future wife.
The ideal country is the one with no taxes at all. Is that something that can be at least a little realistic, maybe in a distant future? How could all the social services be paid for? Would liberals still be against the concept itself?
