It's at that point where I'm paying a ton of cash for taxes, and I'm really getting sick of how much cash the Canadian government is taking from me. I was talking to a friend of mine today, and he told me that he had a conversation with a guy from his work about setting up a business in the Camen Islands (and living here off of a Visa) and totally getting rid of having to pay taxes all together. Have any of you tried anything like this?
Nope, but I'm Canadian and feel your pain. By all rights Canada, as beautiful as it is, is a communist country.
So true. With all of this bullshit that the Librerals have been pulling for the last few years, they don't deserve a dime of my money.
Canada is a great country. Try to live in state for awhile and you will see that with all the extra costs, it is actually cheaper to live in Canada with our taxes than state. On top of everything else the kind of safety that we enjoy on our big cities like Vancouver, is an impossible dream to Americans.
The country will need a government anyway. The choice is between some what dishonest liberals, unrealistic NDP or crazy conservatives. I think liberals will be the best choice since Conservatives with their mini-Bush harper are just scary to be in government. Just think how much money we are saving but not getting involved in Iraq war, something that Harper surely would participate in if he was in power.
Want Nintendo to run Canada? Anyway running the biz from the Cayman Islands, or at least having it based there would work only if the amount of taxes saved are much greater than the administration costs, which ar significant at the least. A very good tax adivisor can tell you if it's worth it. But let me tell you something that many don't know. The UK is in a way a tax haven, as laws, regulations, thresholds and taxes are simple and low. The UK is within easy reach and the homeland of the English language. A stable democracy with great infrastructures. I would consider running the business from there. Life can be expensive, particularly in the larger cities, but many have some kind of connection with the UK therefore making your life easier. The only problem is that blinkin' liberal called GB (Gordon Brown) who in only a few years multiplied by 3 the pages of the British taxbook! Putting up taxes of course! The elections are coming up soon, if he becomes PM maybe there would be too many uncertainties for businesses, if not go for the UK! Make it hard for heavy taxing inefficient liberal governments and stop their waste of money!
I can't move, I live at the bottom of Grouse Mountain. I have season ski passes and I paraglide from there all summer. On top of that my kids love the beach and ocean. All this within 10 minutes, I'll take the Wackos.
do You think Harper is sane? Why don't you move to state and enjoy the original instead of just being satisfied with bad Bush replica in form of Harper?
It's been killing me as well! This is wrong, just plain wrong. There must be legal ways to avoid paying so much tax! My faith in the tax system dies a little each quarter! It's just plain sick and wrong!
Isn't socialized health care great? Isn't bigger government the shit! Move south man. No, I just stayed in the US, voted Republican in every election until I got someone in the White House that realized that I know best how to spend MY MONEY, and let me keep more of it. What on earth could Canada need all that money for? The country is not highly populated. It's not like you need to spend money on a national defense. Where's it all going?
Yeah, that's typical of liberal policies. Just spend money and make people happy, at least those that don't look at a longer period when it'll bite you back! That's usually when conservative parties feel needed even by the typical swingers. They come in, build wealth, and then the libs come in to spend it. The real problem is that they don't really spend it, they just waste it (assuming corruption is present in most political parties at least to a certain degree)
hey guys, i'm in Calgary ... there are ways to minimize your tax contribution. Have kids? Have a wife? Have your own business? - talk to your friendly tax accountant .. no need for camen accounts.
I do believe that Canada is a beautiful country with some nice people. Still, taxes are so irritating when too high that it puts the country in a bad light, for Canadians themselves, not foreigners (actually I should say Canadian taxpayers).
Are you a tax expert? Have you compared the tax in Canada with other countries? Have you compared the social programs and it's quality in Canada to other countries to know if it is comparable and reasonable or not?
