Taxes and Pay Per Click advertising

I do a lot of the programming and designing of pages on my own. A lot of the time spent researching and developing adds up. So, I was wondering if anyone knows if they can write this off on their tax return?

In general, as an affiliate marketer, what things do you write off on your taxes?

i don't think you can write off the time you spend doing your own research or managing your own ads. you can write off anything that's an expense (office, computer, dsl, software, advertising costs, etc.).

the only way you'd be able to write off your own research would be to bill yourself for your own time but then you're generating revenues too :) sort of evens out.

now if you're doing it for a client, that's different, that you can write off as a loss.

Someone mentioned something similar. I guess, I figured if I had to pay someone I could write it off. Good point on the expense/revenue scenario.

It seems like a while back, there was a way to write off research expenses. I'll check with a cpa and see if I can add some more info.

you cannot write off your time because you are using your time to make the money. but anything you paid related to income earned can be write off.
