Hi! I have a question regarding my site www.tattoodesignsforgirls.com It ranks way past the 9th page in google for Tattoo Designs For Girls' . The domain is over a year old. Did 250 directory submissions about 3 weeks ago. Multiple pages Multiple blog posts. I see other sites ranking on page 1 with minimal links. Has google punished my site or something? What can I do to get better rankings? Would appreciate any help I can get! Cheers and thanks! Diggy
Free directory submissions are a) going to take time to get approved (if at all) and b) don't provide you with any real link juice. Your site doesn't currently show a lot of backlinks according to backlinkwatch.com. Build some more backlinks, using not only your keyword phrase as the anchor but also the domain name, since you have a great exact match domain here. Targetted blog comments and some more articles would help, as would getting some backlinks from homepages that are relevant to your niche.
Now the above comment is correct. It would also be a good idea to check your backlinks it is quite possible if you've become linked with malware or porn that this would have a negative effect. Or it could be your content you're being penalised for, duplicate etc.

You need quality back links. Preferably from tattoo sites. If you like I have 3 sites we could link exchange with? Just PM me if interested.
Looks to me like you could use a little more on page optimization as well. That combined with a link campaign that brings in one way links on quality, relevant sites with strong PR is what will help you the most.
There's a few things that your page is in dire need of. First off, add a meta description and keywords. Because your website seems to be mostly pictures, it's hard for the search engines to accurately describe. Secondly, make sure your pictures have relevant filenames. In other words, purple_butterfly_shoulder_tattoo.jpg instead of 1x0335Ea4F.jpg. I'm not sure if this was the case on your website, it's just an additional tip. Once you're done with that, make some expert pages on Web 2.0 sites. Because your website is about tattoos, you should be able to produce a few follow pages that will pass linkjuice to your website on something like Squidoo. After you're done with that, add links back to your website on your web 2.0 page. Rinse and repeat.
check out google keywords, wordtracker and check what the most competitive sites in the niche are doing. my site, tattoo.com kick buts - so does tattoofinder and vanishingtattoo etc.
It's pretty obvious to me. Your home page contains no content whatsoever, only pictures. Plus, all of your pictures link out to tinyurl links. Why don't you just set up your own php redirect?? It wouldn't matter if you had 5000 backlinks - you won't rank anywhere near the 1st page with no written content. I would get at least 500 words of unique content on your main page. You should really look at what ranks high for your keyword before making your site.
