Here's an impression from someone who has no real understanding of Google maps: it kinda gave me an idea of what it's about, but it didn't ignite my interest in the whole thing. So, if you are targeting newbies to maps, you might want to provide an example, like "Joe smith wanted to take a tour around the small villages of the albs and got more information from other users than he could find anywhere on the internet, you can do the same too, start here!" Just my thoughts.
