I work at a university in Norway, and we are looking for a way to launch a marketing campaign for the computer science department. They want to attract students from India and China. Do you know of any websites where we can place ads for this purpose? Some people have told me about Craigslist and that it might be a good service for it, but I am not sure. I have thought about AdWords, but I am not sure how it works for this kind of marketing. - jens -
You can contact www.TransitAbroad.com at: study.ucs@gmail.com for appointing your representative in India.
adwords is one of the good option. However, for the China, it is better if you can make a website with chinese language and submit to baidu which is the most popular search engine in china.
Thanks! I'll contact Transit Abroad. I have been looking at adwords, and I think that I will try it both for China and India. I am not sure how we can get a website indexed in baidu in chinese, maybe we can use ppc there as well? - jens -
I reckon you should find some existing Chinese/Indian students at your school and ask them for popular forums or overseas student sites that they are active in, and put ads on those. You may want to contact some abroad study agencies from these two countries. There must be heaps of them around the world.
Using Caglist would be stupid, few students will check this kind of information there. What I would suggest, especially for China. 1. Media buying and press release in Chinese study abroad sites 2. Paid posting(or free posting) on related forums. 3. Search PPC in Baidu and Google(CN). But don't think price would be cheap, this niche is in the list of top commercial ones. 4. PPC in facebook with targeting, this may work well, even in English. 5. PPC in China social networking sites, such as xiaonei.com. The main users there are students. This may works and not so expensive. 6. Media buying in major news sites if you have budget, target the parents who make prominent decision. 7. Hiring PR company to post on university forums. Beside, a site/blog in both English and Chinese is neccessary. Also make sure the program is legit and don't expect short term returns. Hope these could help.
