My understanding is that to target another country's language your ads and landing pages must be in that language. You can not just select the language from the options and use your English stuff. Or can you?

Anybosy have experience with targetting other countries?

yes, you can target other languages with english landing pages and ads. english is a secondary language in many countries, so they can read the message and may click. are they more targeted and do you get good ctr? depends, but my experiences are they arent for the most part, but it would really depend on ure niche and/or goal.

one plus to doing this is there isnt much competition and cpcs may be lower.

I have ads running in Thailand, in Thai Script. The landing pages are in Thai script, but the urls are in English. Works really well.

Google does not know (nor care) any language. It simply counts words (and does some other cool stuff beside). I have a feeling that they might be doing something what could trigger that. Isn't that Google Translator like that? I don't think it will happen soon, but feeling is that eventually it will happen.
